Muse, trendsetter and style icon, Alexa Chung, is taking her killer fashion sense into the digital space. Partnering with CEO Jeanette Dyhre Kvisvik, the host/documentarian/fashionista-extraordinaire has created a social fashion app that allows you to shop everyone from American Apparel to Vetements as well as create moodboards and connect with other style-minded people. Here’s why we’re hopping on the Villoid bandwagon and you should too!

You can think of Villoid as a cross between Pinterest and Instagram. Users can upload photos of their style icons and then recreate the outfits with separate pieces. If a user has created an outfit you like, you are no longer forced to computer shop, but can easily hit the Buy button and purchase your favorite piece or get the entire outfit. We love you, Polyvore, but we’re kinda sorta really smitten with Villoid now. Sorry about it.
This app, which was formerly called SoBazaar, has undergone a major transformation with the help of Creative Director, Alexa Chung. What inspired her to come up with its new concept? She said:
“I suppose that scene in Clueless where the computer puts an outfit together from Cher’s wardrobe really stayed with me. Clothes are fun, making mistakes is fun, being inspired is fun. Villoid celebrates the process of getting dressed and showing your mates.”
True enough, Cher’s computer really was the bomb-diggity in the ’90s, so it’s no wonder that Villoid, the descendant of Cher’s computer, would be the bomb-diggity in the ’10s. Kvisik, Villoid CEO, told Fashionista mag that having Alexa Chung on board has instantly boosted the popularity of the app. For obvious reasons. Obviously. Right? I mean, c’mon… who doesn’t want to get behind anything Alexa Chung does in the fashion world? In fact, Chung’s name is so influential that “so many downloaded the app the minute Alexa announced her ‘secret project’ last week that the app was crashing,” Kviswik said.
Oops, we definitely played a part in that.
