I don’t even want to remember that far back. I really don’t want to think back to that dark pre-iPhone era. I like this smooth-sailing, technology filled era we live in now. Technology is meant to make our lives easier/more efficient, etc. When I think of technology that has made our lives easier, the first thing that comes to mind is apps. EVERY SINGLE app is designed to make our lives easier one way or another. But these apps take the cake.
1. Wunderlist
Cost: free
With this app, you can make a list for anything & everything. You can create a grocery list, a to-do list, a work task list, etc. As soon as you complete a task, you simply check the box next to the task and it deletes it from the list. I really couldn’t live without this app.
2. Shazam
Cost: free
When I first downloaded this app, I thought it was the most genius invention EVER. I still do. You’ll never have to be stuck not knowing a song name again. Next time you hear a song you like, simply open the app, press that big button and let the app give you the title of the tune & the artist.
3. Venmo
Cost: free
“Just Venmo me” is probably a phrase you’ve heard a time or two. Venmo is amazing. You simply connect your Paypal account and you can transfer money to anyone. No more splitting the check at restaurants, now one person can pay and everyone else can Venmo them. I even use it to pay rent. My roommates Venmo me their share, then I transfer money to our landlord. It does usually take 24 hours for the money to get into your account, but the benefits greatly outway the one negative.
4. Yelp
Cost: free
You’ll never have trouble deciding where to eat again! Well, that’s an exaggeration, but the Yelp app helps A TON when you can’t decide where to eat. Just search by your location and pick a place with 4+ stars (recommended). It’s like that one friend that always has an opinion and always knows where you should go to eat.
5. Waze
Cost: free
NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE wants to be in the car longer than they have to be. Waze will get you from point A to point B in the quickest time possible. It really is significantly better than the maps on your phone.
6. Shyp
Cost: free
This app is perfect for when you don’t want to/have to go to the post office. Just open up Shyp & they’ll pick up your items, pack & send them anywhere in the world for a relatively low cost!
7. Uber
Cost: free
Do I even need to tell you why you need Uber? Way better & more efficient than a taxi, Uber will pick you up anywhere and take you anywhere you need to go for a freakishly low fare. If you do the UberPool option, it’s even cheaper.
8. GrubHub
Cost: free
A simple food delivery service in convenient app form. What more could you ask for?
9 Sunrise Calendar
Cost: free
This is the only calendar app you’ll ever need. Sunrise integrates all of your calendars into one, including Google Calendar, iCloud, Facebook, Evernote, Meetup and much more. You’ll never miss an important event again.
10. Dark Sky
Cost: $3.99
This weather app is just stunning. It will also tell you down to the minute when any precipitation is going to happen. Wouldn’t you love to know when heavy rain will be starting? Well, this app will tell you the exact time. Really, the maps in this app are just beautiful.
