8 Best Water-Based Moisturizers You Should Check Out This Week

Fall season always makes me hunt for the best water-based moisturizers. It’s one of the secrets to looking fresh and dewy even with the drop in temperature.

I’ve made moisturizing a part of my cleansing regimen even before I knew anything about face serums and masks. This is because my mom used to school me regularly on the importance of it. “It’ll help you prevent wrinkles,” she’d say. Along with a couple phrases of “you’ll thank me for this when you’re older.” And I agree. Teaching me the habit of putting it on at a young age has done wonders for my skin.

Find The Best Water-Based Moisturizers For You

I’m pretty picky when it comes to products I use because I don’t like the greasy feeling that sometimes gets left behind. This usually leaves me opting for water-based moisturizers as opposed to cream ones. If you’re like me and you prefer the same, then slap me a high five!

Water-based moisturizers also perform best on oily skin. This is because it doesn’t clog the pores, leaving you with blemish-free face after religious use. They come in all shapes and sizes. Keep on reading below to see the best moisturizers I’ve tried and still love until now.

1. Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturizer

Neutrogena is my no-nonsense moisturizer. It’s the one I slather all over my face on a regular day. I love how it’s oil-free because I’m always a teensy bit afraid of my skin becoming oily throughout the afternoon. So I’m happy that this product gets me moisturized minus the shine.

2. Philosophy Hope In A Jar

It was actually a friend of mine who got me to try Philosophy’s Hope In A Jar. She wouldn’t stop raving about how it made her skin look so fresh and dewy — sans highlighter. I tried a sample after talking to her and I’ve made sure that I have a jar on my dresser ever since. It’s definitely one of the of best moisturizers I’ve tried.

3. Perricone MD Pre:Empt Moisturizer

Perricone is one of the ways I make myself feel better. Given that this moisturizer’s price is a bit steep, I use this on days when I’ve had a long day and deserve a bit of pampering. I don’t know how Perricone does it, but every morning after I use this, I look absolutely refreshed and recharged — like I had just come from a quick getaway.

4. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel

I’ve always had a soft spot for this product because Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Gel was my first ever moisturizer. It’s the one that opened my eyes to the world of skincare because really, all I knew before was that I had to wash my face. That was it.

What I love about this product is how it doesn’t leave any greasy residue at all. It was gel-like water and it would glide on so smoothly on my face. I used to pop in the fridge for 3 minutes before putting it on my face at night. It would feel amazing!

5. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer is another recommendation of a friend who was completely obsessed at anything Kiehl’s. In her opinion, if Kiehl’s had it, it was the best. Best facial cleansers, best serums, best moisturizers. It had come to a point where anything they had, she had to at least try once.

I used this before for two weeks and immediately saw why she was so smitten by the brand. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer left my face feeling radiant as ever, even if I’d only use a little at a time. More bang for my buck!

6. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

This moisturizer is one of my secrets for long haul flights. I keep a mini tube of Clinique’s Moisturizing Gel in my bag because airplanes usually leave my skin feeling parched. To make sure I’ve still got supple skin when I land, I have a flight ritual of cleansing my face, putting on a face mask sheet, and then finishing off with my Clinique moisturizer. It makes such a huge difference!

7. Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel

I was first introduced to Boscia because of their Charcoal Mask (which by the way I still use today), but recently I’ve taken a look at the range of moisturizers they offer as well. What I love about this is how it’s moisturizing, brightening, and pore minimizing. Not a lot of moisturizers can say that they do all three, so this one gets a check in my book!

8. Mac Mineralize Charged Water Moisture Gel

Mac seems to have a cult when it comes to their Mineralize Charged Water products, and I can see why. When used during the day, this moisturizer helps make makeup go on smoothly and evenly — a plus for someone like me who likes blending foundation in with her fingers. Also, did I mention that it’s incredibly light and not greasy at all? Snaps for Mac, ladies. Snaps for Mac!
