Hello World! It’s time for Hot, Not or Meh! And today, we’re going to take a look at one of the celebrities I regard as someone who always gets it right when it comes to fashion… she is none other than Cate Blanchett!

Cate recently attended The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences New Members Reception where she wore this dress from Proenza Schouler. The white number had a unique shape sporting layers, frills and cut-outs. Here is a full-body photo:

So… the thing is, there have been mixed reactions toward the dress. Some dig it, while some do not. So what can I say? It’s a dress with frills but no thrills. I know for a fact that a dress like this can only be pulled off by Cate Blanchett… but I think the dress is just SO un-likeable.
The obvious verdict?
NOT!
This dress is wrong on Cate in so many ways. The cut-out doesn’t complement Cate’s slim figure. I believe it’s better for someone who has curves. The frills and layers isn’t working for me either. I see it as a white Christmas tree, which could be pretty in Christmas but for a dress, not really. Moreover, I really dislike the bow. Cate isn’t a gift you simply wrap in a box with a bow on top. C’mon Cate, I know you can do waaayyyy better than this!
