7 Doable Diet Tips For Women Who Want To Stay Fit
Diets can either be a woman’s best friend or her worst nightmare. It depends on the kind you choose. I’ve done my fair share of diet programs and found that the best way to get through a diet is to set realistic goals and have a support system — friends who will tell you that no, they don’t think having another cupcake is such a good idea and that yes, they’ll see you tomorrow morning for a fabulous workout class with your favorite trainer.
If you’re like me, then diets would consist of healthy food with a few allowances for indulgences here and there. After all, a lady’s still got to have her bite of sweets once in a while. It’s all about moderation, about knowing what your body needs, treating it with respect, and not depriving it of the nutrients that it needs.
Want to know more diet tips that will leave you feeling motivated as ever? Keep on reading below for my top 7 doable diet tips for women.
1. Hydrate often
I start my day by drinking a glass of water every day. It’s the perfect way to rehydrate after a good 8 (or let’s be realistic, 6) hours of sleep. Drinking water early in the morning also helps flush out toxins and leaves you feeling more refreshed.
Here’s another bonus tip. Add slices of lemon or orange in your water for that slight hint of flavor.
2. Know your portion size
Going on a diet and eating healthy go hand in hand with knowing your portion sizes. Love slathering peanut butter on a slice of wheat toast? Make sure to limit your serving to just a tablespoon’s worth of the spread. Craving for some Italian food? Ball your hand into a fist and use that as a sizing reference for your pasta.
3. Eat slowly and savor your food
It’s easy to breeze through meals while endlessly scrolling through social media or wrapping up on emails. The problem with eating too fast though is that you’re most likely to eat more than what you normally would.
It’s always best to spend meal time over conversation with friends. Doing so not only puts you in a better and relaxed mood but taking the time to really chew and savor your meal gives your stomach enough time to send a signal to your brain that you’re full. That way, you get your tummy filled without enduring a food coma!
4. Don’t skip meals
Metabolism is one of the key secrets when it comes to dieting. The faster your metabolism, the more calories you burn. Most people skip meals or go on crash diets without knowing that missing a meal or two actually slows down your metabolism — a huge no no!
Instead, opt to eat small meals within every 3 hours. It’ll give you something to look forward to as the day passes and it’ll help take care of your metabolism. Win win!
5. Have lots of colors on your plate
A healthy plate is a colorful one! Get your daily fill of favorite veggies and fruits — whether raw or cooked. The more colors you see on a plate mean more vitamins for your body. So load up on juicy berries, crunchy carrot sticks, and a plate of your fave greens!
Who says eating healthy has to taste bad? Try making a delicious plate of Chili Lime Chicken or One Pot Zucchini Mushroom Pasta. The vibrant colors alone are a sight to see!
6. Keep a food journal
When you keep track of your meals, you’ll notice little things about your eating habits and adjust them as needed. Are you someone who can’t get through a day without dessert? Give yourself a small square of dark chocolate to cure the craving. Find yourself always looking for a midday snack? Prep one in advance so that you’ll be less likely to go to a fast food drive-thru.
Having a food journal is a great diet tip not only because it shows you what kind of foodie you are, but also because it helps you remember yummy and healthy meals you’ve enjoyed!
Speaking of journals, here’s the journal I‘ve been enjoying.
7. Write down your goals
Whether it’s to tone your legs or your rock those killer abs, goals are always better when jotted down on pen and paper. Take this step an extra notch by placing it somewhere you’re constantly looking at. Say, for example, your phone’s wallpaper or inside a sleeve of your wallet.
Here’s a video from Jenny Mustard to help you get rid of bad eating habits.
I hope the 7 diet tips for women helped you out. Seeing your goal several times throughout the day will help you ace your diet and achieve your dream bod in no time! And remember, you should only go on a diet for the right reason, and that is to pursue a healthier lifestyle!
