How To Relieve Stress At Work Like A Boss

How to relieve stress at work? That’s a question we ask all the time; and while it’s easier for some than others, this article is sure to help you in even the most difficult working environment!

Experiencing stress at work is pretty normal and it’s not always bad as it may seem. Personally, I consider stress as my mini-challenges in life. Because of the endless pressure from work that’s coming my way, I became more motivated to face them all and finish each challenge. There’s this desire to prove myself that I am capable of overcoming them. Yes, it’s never easy but it’s always possible.

Different people have different ways of coping with stress at work. Some may do it in silence, while others manage it through laughter (and drinks after work). But whatever strategies we use to blow the stress away, what’s important is we’re able to face it. There’s definitely no backing off!

Finding the best approach on how to relieve stress at work may take time, effort and trials. Of course, there are different levels and kinds of stress that each person endures every day. It could be deadlines, unsupportive colleagues or a boss who’s hard to deal with. But it’s not just about the stress, it’s really about learning how to deal with it.

Here are some tips to help you out when you find yourself in the middle of stress and pressure from work:

1. Take a deep breath

Inhale, exhale, hoooh! Don’t forget to calm yourself first. When we’re too preoccupied or overwhelmed with the pressure happening around us, we tend to lose control of ourselves. Eventually, productivity is affected because our minds are not functioning accordingly. By taking a deep breath, we are able to restore the balance in our system, particularly our mental and emotional state.

2. Know your Priorities

Decide on what’s really important to you; figure out your priorities and put them at the top of your list. As much as possible, make it a habit to even up your professional goals with your  personal goals; find a perfect balance between the two.

3. Act on it

Most of the time, stress arises when things are not happening according to plan, or in the time we want them to. Then panic and anxiety sets in, making the situation worse. Figure out an effective, and realistic plan- of -action for everything you want to accomplish, then make a list starting with the most important. Start working on each item and you’ll be surprised how much easier things will become.

4. Take care of your body

Lack of adequate sleep can have a negative effect of your mental health, adding to your stress. The body needs 7 to 9 of hours of sleep to recover and rejuvenate. Your diet also plays an important role in your stress level and overall health. Make sure you are getting the required daily nourishment that the body needs to perform at its best.

5. Motivate yourself

If there’s someone who needs to push you to your limits, it’s you! It’s time to wear your positive pants, girl!  Instead, you can encourage yourself to do better. Get inspiration from positive thoughts and ideas. Stressing yourself with fears and doubts will lead you to nowhere so stop doing it before it becomes an unhealthy habit.

6. Be an influence to others

This is where a good working relationship with your co-employees comes in. Though you’re able to fix yourself, you have no control over your co-workers or your environment. You only have control over your reaction to these stressers. Don’t react to your co-workers in a negative way, no matter how much they aggravate you. Be respectful both in tone and in action and you might be surprised how things can turn around in your favor.

Eventually, your posititve attivthis practice might influence others and they’ll imitate it too.
