Movie Picks | Me Before You

If you’re ready to shed tears over another movie and be inspired with heartwarming lines of the characters, you MUST watch “Me Before You”. Read on to know more about this movie.

Movie Picks | Me Before You

You only get one life. It’s actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.

Here’s a tip — You better have a box of tissues beside you before watching this film! Get ready as tears won’t stop from falling because of emotional kicks enveloped in the film.

Me Before You” narrates a story of a lady from a small town who is entangled between dead-end jobs and a successful and wealthy man who became wheelchair bound due to a motorcycle accident. This quirky and thankful woman is played by Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen of Game of Thrones) while the high-profile man was done by Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair of The Hunger Games).

Will Traynor (Claflin) is an energetic and likable banker who eventually sees his life worthless after being quadriplegic. Then came Lou Clark (Clarke), a charming and sweet local woman (with an extraordinary taste for clothes) who was hired to be Will’s caretaker for six months.

Coming from different worlds and priorities in life, these two people were tied up by fate. Despite having a rough start together, Lou never stopped doing her job – to be there for Will and cheer him up. Lou persevered in proving Will that his life is worth living for by plunging into series of vacations and travels. She showed Will the beauty of life and the world to brighten and change his mind in ending his life.

As they made memories together and search for life’s worth, they eventually see their lives changing which neither of the two could dream of.

“Me Before You” is a film which serves as a lesson (and reminder as well) for everyone to break and surpass their own barriers in life. The moment Lou and Will’s paths crossed, Will showed up his defense and Lou is, not surprisingly, repelled. Lou’s dedication and persistence on making Will to change his mind gave Will the best moment of his life and within that, they found the same feeling that they embraced well.

Based on the 2012 novel of Jojo Moyes, who is also the scriptwriter of the film, Me Before You finally made its debut on theaters on June 3. Directed by Thea Sharrock, this romantic-comedy movie is her first feature film.

The movie is rated PG-13 for its thematic elements and some suggestive material which covers a wide description. However, the suggestive material is moderate and non-irritating and only notices at sexuality. There is no nudity involved but has some indecency, which is still tolerable. The only objectionable part of this movie is the physician-assisted suicide topic which younger viewers might not be able to deal with easily.

Here’s the official trailer of the movie, “Me Before You”:

Overall, Me Before You is still a superb romantic film to include in your bucket list. Hopefully, you did not get spoiled if you’re still planning to watch this movie. But, keep an eye for its ending, though.

Push yourself. Don’t settle. Just live well. Just LIVE.
