Loving Mondays will be so easy once you know my morning routine. Get a tip or two to start the week ready to get the job done!
My Morning Routine | 14 Ways To Learn To Adore Mondays
I love Mondays! 🙂 I know it seems so hard to believe because the start of the week is always the hardest to deal with, so I don’t blame you. Besides, I didn’t feel this way for the longest time. But I did quite a few things and tweaked my morning routine. Getting curious now? No need to ask me, because I’m willing to spill my secrets with you.
1. Wake up earlier than usual
This is the hardest that I had to adjust to because I’m not really a morning person, but I committed to waking up earlier than usual, an hour or two, for all the Mondays of the month. This way, I see the bright side of Monday (literally and figuratively) and I have more time to restart myself instead of rushing everything.
Note: I also drink a glass of cold water right after I get up. I heard it boosts your metabolism!
2. Take a walk with your thoughts
As soon as I wake up, I take a moment to ponder on a lot of things and walk outside. I may not have liked waking up in the morning, but it’s actually a great feeling to wake up before everyone else. This is the perfect time for you to collect your thoughts and remind yourself of your goals for the week while doing a bit of exercise.
3. Fuel up with a hearty breakfast
One important thing that should never be crushed out of my morning routine is eating breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You can’t function well on a manic Monday if your stomach is empty. That’s why I always make it to a point not to skip breakfast even if I’m rushing out. If you feel you don’t have time to make an amazing meal, how about a glass of power smoothie enriched with protein to keep you full until lunch and carbs to fuel your day?
4. Wait for a bit before checking e-mails and social media
Are you one of those who checks social media and e-mail first in the morning? Welcome to the club! Well, I used to do that. What changed? I realized five minutes of checking can turn into 30 minutes or even a full hour! Before you know it, you’ve used all your time for other morning routines. Learn to control this bad habit by scheduling your check time: once during lunch and another when you’re home.
5. Doll yourself up
This is why I wake up an hour or two earlier than my usual day – I want to take my time to doll myself up! When you look real good, you feel better about yourself. In fact, you are so pumped up you think you can do anything.
6. Listen to good music
Commuting is more fun when I’m listening to happy songs. Actually, I love listening to music that improves my mood. It doesn’t only affect my attitude towards the day, but it also makes me feel light and energized. And let’s admit it, whenever we plug our headphones and listen to great songs, we feel like rock stars cruisin’ down the alley!
7. Forget the stress
Ignorance is bliss, especially when you’re ignoring stress and anxiety before you step into your office. Calm your mind, think of your mantra and game plan, and stay positive!
8. Smile and be nice
This isn’t just for my morning routine. I incorporate this as much as I can, more so on a Monday when everyone is stressed out and grumpy. Smile and be nice. It’s contagious! You don’t just do it for other people but also for yourself. It brings out the positivity in you, and that can really fuel up your Monday and even the rest of the week.
9. Go easy on the coffee
What’s a grueling Monday morning without a cup of joe? Many head to Starbucks or grind their coffee beans, and that’s perfectly fine. But be cautious: coffee can be addictive, and any kind of addiction lets you go through a crash-and-burn phase. You don’t want to experience that the entire day, especially on a Monday. Limit yourself to two cups, and as much as possible, use a natural sweetener.
10. Prepare your work outfits a night before
I used to spend 30 minutes picking my work outfits, and I know I am not the only one. I changed that by prepping my clothes a night before. In fact, whenever I have the time, I plan my outfit for the rest of the week.
11. Plan your lunch
Are you constantly stressed out on what you should eat for lunch? Then plan ahead. There are so many amazing recipes for make-ahead meals, from packed burritos to noodles or salads in a jar, you can experiment with your lunches — they don’t have to be boring.
12. Enjoy a great soak
If there’s one morning routine I indulge in, it will be a really great, nice soak (or shower if you don’t have a tub). Don’t you love smelling clean and fresh? It’s invigorating.
13. Spread some sweet smell
I also don’t limit the nice smell in the bathroom and on my body. I do it all around the house. This is, in fact, my morning routine I never fail to do.
14. Organize your purse
Let’s face it, when you forget to bring your phone or – gasp – your presentation, the rest of your day is ruined. I avoid that by arranging my bag a night before.
Squeezing some gym time on a Monday at that can be difficult, but this video will show you how to plan your morning routine:
Will you ever love Mondays? Of course, you can! I did. It’s just a matter of starting and then staying committing to the habit. To be honest, when you develop an excellent morning routine, you’ll learn to like not only Mondays but all the days of the week. How cool is that?
