The Ultimate New Year’s Eve Party Outfit Guide
I know what you must be thinking: it isn’t even Christmas yet but I’m already looking for New Year’s Eve outfits? Of course I am! Dressing for the holidays doesn’t end with Christmas outfits and ugly sweaters. In fact, they’re only the beginning. I’m a firm believer in looking, feeling, and being your best on New Year’s Eve—I think a positive outlook at the start of the year can make the rest a piece of cake. And that includes dressing the part! So here are some of the outfits I’m choosing from this year:
1. Minimalist Chic
Kill them with style, not with gimmicks. If your personal aesthetic is clean and chic, go for neutrals like black, white, and nude, and pick one accent piece. A sparkly skirt sounds perfect!
2. Velvet
New Year’s Eve can also be a time to look back on your favorite trends of the year. Who knows, it could be your last chance to wear velvet before it goes out of style next year! So trade in your basic fabrics for a luxe velvet dress.
3. Sequins
Nothing says New Year’s Eve party quite like a sequin dress. If you think tight silhouettes and sequins look tacky, find a dress with long sleeves and pair it with a chic coat!
4. Crisp Layers
While it’s still chilly, take advantage of the weather! Layer white pieces with different fabrics and textures for a stylish yet functional (and warm) look.
5. Holiday Hangover
Who says you can’t wear red after Christmas? Go ahead! If bright red is too Christmassy for you, go for deeper shades like maroon or berry. And don’t forget to finish off your look with a bright red lip!
6. Glitter Everywhere
Forget denim on denim, I might just go for glitter on glitter this New Year’s Eve. This outfit is so party-ready, and it looks comfy enough to dance in all night!
7. Dressed-Up Basics
For New Year’s Eve, upgrade your basic skirts and tees with luxe fabrics, dressy shoes, and statement accessories. I’d totally wear this blue velvet skirt way beyond New Year’s Eve!
This pair of nude heels from Mason & Ivy is also perfect for this velvet outfit!
8. Silk
If your New Year’s Eve plans are more casual, a dressy top and sharp pants should do the trick. Go for special fabrics and textures like lace, silk, or chiffon. It’s one of the few times you get to wear them, so don’t miss out!
9. Festive Jumpsuits
I love jumpsuits because you can wear them everywhere, even on New Year’s Eve! Pick a bright or bold color like red or black, and stay away from boho or more casual silhouettes. A jumpsuit in a heavier or sharper fabric is just what you need.
10. Cozy Casual
The right coat will take you places, that’s for sure! Jeans, your best coat, and a pair of metallic or sparkly shoes sound like my ideal laid-back New Year’s Eve look.
11. Dramatic Silhouettes
Holiday dressing means you can wear all those daring silhouettes and trendy pieces without sticking out like a sore thumb in a crowd! So go ahead and rock that dress with a slit, or that bodycon you’ve been hiding in your closet all year long.
12. Fit and Flare
You can never go wrong with a fit and flare dress! It’s girly, chic, and it comes in so many different colors, prints, and patterns. Find one that fits your personality and you’ll surely shine this New Year’s Eve.
13. Classic Dresses
If your style is more classic, a basic dress with touches of ruffles or pleats is your best bet. Go for warm winter-appropriate colors like maroon or mustard!
