13 Things To Do Before Getting Married So You’ll Have No Regrets

Are you planning on getting married someday? There are a lot of women that want to take that road. If you’re one of them, my first advice, don’t be in a hurry. There’s a lot of ways to enjoy being single!

Getting married is a huge decision. It totally turns your life upside down. When you’re single, you get to do anything and everything you want, but once you’re married, you can’t do that anymore. As a single woman, you have to make the most out of it and enjoy your singlehood!

13 Things on Your To-Do List Before Getting Married

Being married is a whole different life. It’s very different compared to being a single person with fewer responsibilities. Granted, most of us are hopeless romantics that seek “the one” and exert a lot of time and effort in finding him. That is a good and sweet notion but you should remember that there are other things life has to offer and we must take advantage of them before getting hitched. Here are some of the things you must do before getting married!

1. Go Fishing in the Sea (Figuratively)

It is indeed very sweet and rare to find “the one” at first try. But it is not really a bad idea to try dating many people before settling down. This way you’ll be sure that the person you’re going to marry is the person that you can’t compare with anyone and the one you’re going to love in the end of the day.

2. Be Happy in Your Lonesome

Before being a couple you should first be comfortable and happy being alone. Do not depend on comfort and contentment in other people. Knowing what you makes you happy and how to be happy is as important as making your relationship work.

3. Spend a Lot of Quality and Crazy time with Your Girlfriends

This doesn’t mean that you’re not going to be able to spend time with your friends when you get married. But a night out with your friends as a single person is different from a night out with them when you’re already married. If you know what I mean.

4. Chase Your Dream

Be sure that you already did everything you want to do when it comes to what you want and who you want to be. May it be, getting your dream job, an apartment of your own, traveling the world or any of the wildest dreams you have. It is better to reminisce the time when you did these things than wishful thinking of the things you hoped to do but lost.

5. Have a Hobby or a Skill

Before getting married, learn a new hobby or skill, something that you’re passionate doing. This way you can say to yourself that you have your own identity outside the relationship.

6. Start Saving Money

Learning how to save money is an important skill. Think of it as your training for when you’re married. And hey, saving doesn’t hurt anyone and you’ll have money to buy stuff afterward.

 7. Spend Time With Your Parents

Not only because you’re going to spend less time with them when you’re starting your own family. But because you can learn a lot of important things from your parents–important lessons about family.

 8. Learn How to Cook and Nail a Single Dish

I know it’s a stereotype that women do the cooking all the time. But cooking skills are important especially because you need to feed your family. But if you’ve tried and you’re really not into cooking, that’s okay. Just make sure you can cook at least one dish very nicely and you’re good.

 9. Travel With Your Future Husband

If you’re already engaged and are about to get married, try traveling with your future spouse. This will give a glimpse of what living together feels like. And what if you can’t stand each other for a week? At least you would have an idea of what it’s going to be like down that road and if you have issues, you’ll have time to work on it.

 10. Create a Lot of Good Memories

Needless to say, you need to live your life before living it with someone else. Do all the random, fun and crazy things you want to do. So that when you reminisce you’ll be happy and you’ll have a lot of joyous memories to share.

 11. Commemorate Those Moments

Take a lot of pictures. Collect mementos on every adventure you’ve had. So that when you look back you’ll know that you already lived that phase of your life greatly and you’ll be ready to create and make other happy memories with your family.

 12. Evaluate Yourself

Evaluate yourself, know what needs to change and work on them. If you think that you have negative traits or misgivings, slowly try to make them better. Remember, you’ll not do this only because you’ll have a partner but because changing yourself for the better will be good for you.

 13. And Finally, Love Yourself

Loving yourself first will allow you to love other people as well. Love every version of you so that you’ll be proud to share them with the other person that you’ll be spending your life with.
