2017 Oscars Best Dressed | These Celebs Made The Cut
The stars aligned in the most recent 2017 Academy Awards, and some lit up to so bright they made it to my Oscars best-dressed list. To be clear, all of them are gorgeous. Their gowns are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and their makeup looks are on point. But the men and women on this list stood out for one simple reason: they took risks. And being brave and bold pay off so well! I know you’re eager to know who these celebrities are, so without further ado (pardon the cliche), scroll down stat:
1. Octavia Spencer
I am a huge fan of Marchesa because it’s a brand that understands women’s bodies very well, so I am not surprised Octavia Spencer looked so damn good in the Marchesa custom gown. From the off-shoulder bodice to the plume skirt and the bob cut that frames her face beautifully, she’s a red carpet winner!
2. Viola Davis
Viola Davis arrived smoking hot in her fiery red Armani Prive dress that flaunts her curves and fit body. She deserves one more statuette, this time for the most sophisticated look among the bunch.
3. Emma Stone
Can Emma Stone ever go wrong with her outfits? I bet no, as she usually makes it to the Oscars best-dressed list. But this time, she is simply stunning with her gold number with an embellished top and fringed bottom. Ladies, this is how you do a roaring Twenties vintage look in 2017.
4. Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Kimmel may have ruffled a few feathers and tickled a lot of bellies while hosting the Oscars, but let’s not forget how he looked every inch dapper with his three-piece suit. The trimmed beard and mustache added to his charm.
5. Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne Johnson certainly understands what it means to take risks: he quit wrestling to be an actor and played a demi-god for the kid’s movie, Moana. This year, he walked the red carpet clad in a royal blue velvet suit!
6. Isabelle Huppert
Isabelle Huppert’s style has always been about understated elegance, and she stuck to it in the recent Academy Awards, so much so that she’s here on my Oscars best-dressed list! She looks–timeless. But to make sure her look doesn’t get all too boring, she paired the glittering full-sleeved dress with a wavy lob.
7. Karlie Kloss
Karlie Kloss just appeared so divine in her Stella McCartney white cape dress paired with minimal accessories like the studded choker. It shows off her height and frame beautifully. (Note: She’s wearing the ACLU ribbon to protest Trump’s travel ban.)
8. Brie Larson
We have a new way of spelling sultry: Brie Larson! The singer and Academy Award-winning actress came with a svelte black ruffled gown from Oscar de la Renta that highlights her hourglass figure.
9. Mahershala Ali
Oh, Mahershala Ali, my heart just skipped a beat! I’m so glad this guy is getting all the accolades because he’s just a brilliant actor. You should check him out in Luke Cage to understand my point. Not only that, the black-on-black ensemble shows us how ripped his body is.
10. Dev Patel
Though I am not a huge fan of Dev Patel‘s scruffy look (because it makes him look tired and I still can’t get over how he looked so handsome in Slumdog Millionaire), I have to give it to him for carrying the white suit with flair.
11. Pharell Williams
Pharrell Williams may have donned on a formal three-piece suit complete with a tailcoat, but he never forgets his street style roots with his clunky accessories. The result? A modern take on the quintessential menswear.
12. Taraji Henson
How do you make a classic Oscars look into something new? Wear it in velvet, of course! Taraji Henson is smokin’ hot in her Alberta Ferretti gown paired with exquisite, sparkling diamonds and equally smoky makeup.
