If I could name one setting where I feel completely in my element, it would be at a party! Now, I know what you’re thinking, “anyone can have fun and get down at a party, right?” Absolutely, but I’m actually talking about my favorite part, planning the event as a whole! Whether it is entertaining my guests, serving up a bomb.com food, or decorating my house to the nines, I would like to call hosting parties one of my many specialties. When a holiday, season, or special occasion is upon us, I thrive on being the “Hostess with the Mostess!” One item in particular that I find essential for every one of my parties is my beloved vintage bar cart.
Texas Vintage Bar Cart Styling
Yep, you heard me; the bar cart is not just a vintage staple anymore! Every hostess that likes to do the mostess has one! But having a bar cart is only the first step, styling the bar cart properly is what really makes it stand out! For this occasion, I styled my bar cart after one of my favorite places in the world: my home sweet home, my Texas.
Vintage Bar Cart
When I finally decided to take my hostess game to the next level and buy a bar cart, I searched for months trying to find the right one! Depending on where you look, bar carts can go for a whopping couple hundred dollars! YIKES! Being the self-proclaimed Bargain Babe that I am, I was on a mission to find one at a fraction of the price. I frequent flea markets a lot and on a whim, I stumbled upon my darling, mint green bar cart for under $50! While gold or wood might be more suiting to your style, this country-chic little number was the most aesthetically pleasing for my southern vibes.
Decor
Now that I had my cherished bar cart, not only did I need to decorate it, I needed to think about the surrounding walls, as well. Being that the lone star state was my overall theme, I chose to embellish with Texas themed décor! Mason jars, Texas shaped cut-outs, and marquee signs added the perfect amount of country flare, while my tassel garland added jazzed it up a bit. While I had to look at a couple places to find the right pieces, Hobby Lobby, Target, and Etsy were my to-go spots to shop!
Glassware
To start the bar cart off right, you have to have some pretty spectacular glassware. Wine glasses, champagne flutes and mugs are some of the countless cups you can find to fit your bar cart style and drinking needs. I found these amazing high ball “hey y’all” glasses at Francesca’s on clearance for only $8! (Not going to lie, I had had my eye on them for over a year and jumped at the chance to buy at such a bargain!) These darling, stem-less wine glasses with hand painted cacti were a TJ Maxx find and go perfect with my Texas theme! Naturally, I added a couple of Mason jars and my glassware collection was completed!
Shaker Tin/Shot Glasses
Another bar cart must-have is a quality shaker tin! Your guests are going to be thirsty, so why not impress them by putting your bartender skills to work and mixing up some fancy cocktails! Y’all, everything is bigger in Texas, including our presentation and flare, so when I found a Mason jar shaker tin, I HAD to have it! If you’re mixing up some shots, these matching mini mason jar shot glasses are perfect for toasting to the night and the hostess! (*wink*)
Ice Bucket
I was gifted this gorgeous Kate Spade ice bucket by one of my dearest friends and it is one of my favorite pieces on my cart! Made of Lucite and covered in gold foil polka dots, it gave my southern style the little mix of sweet it needed! Most people like their drinks chilled, so having a container of ice, with prongs, at your guests’ disposal comes in very handy. Not mixing up any drinks? Fill up the bucket and keep a bottle of wine or champagne on ice!
