1. The Summer Before The War

The Summer Before The War happens on a brief Edwardian summer of 1914. Being tied up with a lot of concerns, Agatha risked her reputation by appointing a new Latin master — Beatrice Nash — for the small English coastal town. After Beatrice’s father died, she had pursued independence through teaching and writing but soon after, she found herself fascinated by the people of the community she’s living with. Just as Beatrice comes back to life after mourning, the perfect summer that welcomed her is about to end. This novel is written by Helen Simonson, the author behind Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand, a New York’s Time Best Seller.

2. Rich and Pretty

Written by a male author, Rumaan Alam, (surprising, though!) Rich and Pretty is a novel which tackles female friendship. After being best buddies for a long time, they found themselves going to different paths of opportunities but their friendship lasted — despite the distance. This might be nostalgic for your childhood best friend too because of some hints of envy, expectations and deep affection towards each other. #bestfriendgoals

3. The Vacationers

The title — The Vacationers — is perfect for summer vibes, right? This bighearted novel gives you a view of a family’s escapade to the islands of Mallorca. Aside from the memorable moments shared in their vacation, this will also give a glimpse of the see-saw-like emotions experienced among family and friends. Emma Straub, the author of this novel, made sure that after finishing this book, you’ll find yourself smiling all day.

4. The Girls in the Garden

This novel by Lisa Jewell will channel an inner detective in you as it evolves around a controversial event. None of the residents of the community admitted any participation to the mystery thus, an investigation has emerged. Behind the beautiful walls of the neighborhood lies secrets and betrayals that will surely keep you intrigued ’til its last page.
