H&M’s New Ad Is Surprising In The Best Way Possible

Way to go H&M!

I’ve always been a big fan of H&M. Great pieces at even better prices. Who can complain?! I love them even more after seeing their new campaign.

Their new ad video entitled “Close the Loop” features Muslim model Mariah Idrissi wearing a hijab. Amazing. It’s great to see a retail giant represent women of various nationalities & sizes.

Idrissi says she was surprised the people at H&M knew how to dress her. She says they “understood it had to be very loose fitting, not figure hugging, not anything revealing.” The young model also explains that she doesn’t feel that modeling conflicts with traditional Islamic beliefs. If anything, promoting the hijab will help people to understand the culture better.

As expected, the video, released earlier this month and entitled “Close the Loop”, is a slick production by the Swedish brand. Urban scenes, stylish attire and models of various nationalities, genders and sizes. In fact, it was the Muslim woman’s debut modeling performance too.

 

The video campaign (which you can watch below) has received over 8 million views so far since its debut earlier this month! I’m looking forward to seeing what H&M does with their next campaign.
