Summer-Ready Nail Art Made Super Easy
Summer fashion and beauty is all about bright colors and cute patterns. So why not show that in your nails too? Nail art uses lots of bright, fun colors that are perfect for this season. Making your own nail polish decals is an easy and affordable way to get super cute nails this summer.

Here’s what you’ll need:
OPI nail polish in What’s The Double Scoop?
OPI nail polish in Towel Me About It
OPI nail polish in Sailing & Nail-ing
OPI nail polish in Flip Flops & Crop Tops
Star and heart punchers from Jo-Ann’s or any craft store
A cotton ball
A plastic sandwich bag
1. Make the Decals
a. Applying OPI Nail Polish
Use the following OPI nail polish colors: What’s The Double Scoop?, Towel Me About It, and Sailing & Nailing. Apply them in thick coats on a plastic sandwich bag.
b. Drying time
Let the OPI nail polish dry overnight. This is to make sure the nail polish is fully dry.
c. Peeling off
Peel each color off the bag. If you’re having trouble, scratch one end of the polish first and it should come off easier.
d. Punching the Dried Polish
Using your heart and star punches, create as many hearts and stars as you want! Make sure you punch decals for each color.
2. Apply Base Coat
This will protect your nails and make sure your nail polish goes on smoothly. If you’re looking for a good base coat, Vogue has a list of favorites.
3. Apply Base Color
This tutorial uses Flip Flops & Crop Tops, but you can use other OPI nail polish colors too. Popsugar has a round-up of the best OPI nail polish colors.
4. Apply the Decals
Use a dotting tool to apply each decal. To make them stick better, wet a cotton ball and dab the dotting tool before you grab the decals.
5. Apply Top Coat
It’s very important to finish off with a top coat. It not only gives you a glossy finish, but it will protect your design as well.
