How To Remain Stress-Free During The Holidays

Some people say it’s almost impossible to remain stress-free during the holidays. I, however, beg to differ. In my opinion, it’s all about remembering the true spirit of Christmas, about being grateful and appreciative of even the littlest of things.

Although the hustle and bustle of the holidays can be challenging, the frustrations should never take over the magic of Christmas. Today, I’ll give you a list of tips for being stress-free, in the hopes that you have a wonderful holiday ahead!

Stress-Free Holiday? It’s Possible!

I’ll admit, Christmas season  can be complete pandemonium. There are tons of presents to prepare, several events and parties to add to your calendar and get dressed for, and then of course, there are the surprise mishaps that happen along the way. Makeup orders and shipments not coming through on their said dates, check out lines taking longer than usual and don’t even get me started on Christmas traffic. It can all get pretty overwhelming!

But here’s where it gets interesting. We are actually more powerful than we think we are. We hold the choice as to how we react to our surroundings. The holiday season may be crazy, but it doesn’t mean you have to fall victim to it.

1. Budget Accordingly

Let’s face it. Whether we like it or not, the holidays always make a go for cash and credit cards. I’m talking about all the holiday sales and holiday collections sprouting left and right.  The key secret in not going overboard with expenses is having a budget you can stick to. Allocating money into different categories such as basic necessities, food, Christmas gifts, and Christmas shopping is necessary so that you don’t end up with (too many) holes in your wallet.

2. DIY Gifts

Low on cash but don’t want to dampen the holiday spirit? DIY your gifts! There are tons of projects that you can choose from, with items that you probably already have in your house. The real question is, with all the DIY crafts available, which one will you choose?

3. Meditate

Meditation is one of my no-fail tricks for being stress-free. I usually meditate in the morning, after I have a round of stretches and before I eat breakfast. Meditating makes me more aware of the power I have in me and generally puts me at ease throughout the day.

They say a habit forms once it’s consecutively done for 21 days. Why don’t you start today? You’ll see a difference in your wellbeing in just a week alone.

4. Plan Ahead

With all the events coming up, it’s good to plan ahead and write them down in your planner. After all, it’s one thing to be fashionably late, but it’s completely different to miss out on a party because you forgot all about it.

5. Practice Patience

Long lines used to test my patience a lot. But instead of grumbling about it and sulking while waiting, I now choose to occupy myself with other things. Reading a book for example — whether a physical one or an ebook — has done wonders not only for my vocabulary but also for my patience. I suggest you try this little trick as well. It’ll take your mind off the line and in turn, make you stress-free.

6. Be Kind To Yourself

Don’t be too hard yourself during the holidays. Sure, things might not turn out the way you wanted them to, but it’s fine. Brush it off, eat your favorite sweet treat, and put a smile on your face! Remember, ladies, it’s just a bad day, not a bad month.

7. Have Fun

It’s the holiday season! Stop stressing out and remind yourself to have fun! You’re #blessed, surrounded by your family and friends, and you’ve got the Christmas spirit in you — sometimes that’s all it takes to be stress-free during the holidays. Grab this statement shirt for a more fun holiday season!
