This coming New Year brings about a chance to reinvent ourselves. It holds a promise of getting us one step closer to the lady we ultimately aim to be: happy, successful, and confident. Keep on reading for my tips on ways to increase confidence for the year 2017!
10 Ways To Increase Confidence For The New Year
They say that if you give a girl the right shoes or the right shade of lipstick, she’ll conquer the world. I believe this, really, I do. I believe it because I know of the fine print. Sky high heels and red lips only work because they give confidence to the person wearing them. Ultimately, the more confident a girl is, the more powerful she feels, and the more she’s able to do.
Now that we’re days away from 2017, I think it’s time for all of us to finally unlock the confidence that’s deep within. It’s time we mastered our attitudes and reactions, ultimately changing from a victim perspective toward a more player perspective when it comes to our surroundings. It’s important we realize that we actually have more control in how we feel and respond.
Today’s article was made with the purpose of unlocking your full potential! Keep on reading to find out 10 ways to increase confidence for the year ahead!
1. Get Rid Of Last Year’s Negativity
As 2016 makes its way out, it’s time to forgive yourself for all the past mistakes made. Holding onto baggage and ill feelings is not a good way to start the new year.
What I like to do is write all my negative thoughts and emotions out on a piece of paper. I pour everything out until there’s nothing left. When I’m done, I tear the sheet of paper apart and set it on fire. It’s my own little way of telling myself that the coming year is going to be a clean slate.
2. List Your Strengths
Having confidence entails knowing both your strengths and weaknesses, making sure you take note of the former. Your strengths could range from items such as making the best meatballs that your family’s ever tasted or being the best hostess your girlfriends have ever known. Whichever it is, hold onto them and remember them on your toughest of days.
3. Have A Daily Confidence Mantra
One way to wake up on the right side of the bed is by having a daily confidence mantra, something you say to yourself after brushing your teeth and before leaving the house. It makes for a great pick me up on bad days as well.
Writing your quote on paper and putting it somewhere nearby is a great way of reminding yourself of your inner confidence. You are a girl boss, beautiful. Don’t forget that!
4. Choose Your Circle Wisely
It’s important to choose friends wisely because the company you keep affects you in more ways than you know. Having a stable support group that’s always up to cheer you on in your endeavors is gold.
Choose friends who’ll stick with you through thick and thin, have positive outlooks in life, and are go-getters of their own. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.
5. Learn New Skills
The coming of a new year means that there are more skills to learn. You have 12 more months to make your dreams come true, ladies. So make a list of your goals and get started.
Maybe you’re passionate about interior design. You could start by giving your bedroom a makeover and learn loads in the process. Or maybe you’re interested in calligraphy. Look for classes nearby that hold 1-day workshops. There’s so much that the world can offer, ladies, all you have to do is choose.
6. Expect To Succeed
Sometimes the right mindset is all it takes to make a winner. The right mindset includes having a clear vision of what you want — the more specific, the better. It’s one of the secrets to being successful.
Remember, when you start thinking like a winner, odds are you will become a winner.
7. Turn Obstacles Into Lessons
Confident people turn mistakes into opportunities to learn. They have a different perspective in the sense that they actually welcome obstacles because it challenges them and makes them even better at their craft.
This coming new year, make a promise to yourself to turn lemons into lemonade and you’ll see a definite difference.
8. Don’t Be Afraid To Laugh
They say that the happiest girls are the ones who know how to laugh, even at themselves. Laughter is one of the most infectious ways of feeling happier. It’s about not taking yourself too seriously and just enjoying the ride of life — no matter how crazy it can get.
Laughter also makes for a more positive outlook. So make it a point to surround yourself with happiness. You won’t regret it.
9. Be Prepared
A confident girl is someone who arrives prepared. You know her. She’s the one who knows all the slides in her presentation down to a T, the one who always has a power bank in case her iPhone runs out of battery, and the one who never forgets to check her planner.
Being confident isn’t just about looking the part and having a happier mindset. It also involves work in being prepared. Got an impromptu presentation in an hour? Don’t worry. You already know everything there is to know because you’ve done your research beforehand.
10. Treat Yourself Like A Queen
Lastly, treat yourself like the queen you are. You are a gem in the world, ladies, and in order for people to believe that, you have to believe it yourself. It’s all about knowing your worth, knowing what you deserve, and never settling for anything else.
