It’s 2016, ladies, and if you’re fretting because you don’t have someone to cuddle, please don’t! The new year is the perfect time to be more in tune with yourself and learn how to be happy alone. After reading our reasons, you may actually think twice about taking that one-way ticket on the relationship express.
1. No Drama.
Whatever you do, there will always be relationship drama that you can do without, girl! Start the year with a bang, and when I mean “bang,” I mean positive vibes and ZERO relationship drama. Believe me, it’s freeing!
2. No Failed Expectations.
Admit it, one of the things that can get you down are failed expectations that result in disappointments. If you’re single, there’s no need to expect anything from anyone. Thus, you’ll feel less disappointed with people. Remember that people will always disappoint you one way or another.
3. Spend More Time with Yourself.
Being single means you finally have time with yourself and that’s priceless, ladies. No more worrying about another person because now, you only need to worry and care for yourself! Can I get an amen?
4. Freedom.
Freedom is such a deep word and when when you’re single, you’re free to do anything you want… you’re free to cook whatever you’d like, dress how you like, flirt guilt-free, watch whatever you’d like, set the schedule you want, etc., etc.
5. Be With Your Friends.
For some reason, being in a relationship almost always means that your time is being monopolized. Usually, your friends are put on the back burner and you only end up calling them whenever you have free time (or a moment to yourself). This shouldn’t be the case at all! Spending time with your friends and family should be the priority because your loved ones will still be there with you if your relationship should ever end (but hopefully, it doesn’t, in which case, divide your time equally!).
6. No More Jealous Fits.
If you’re not attached, there’s no need to feel jealous of other women. And may I add, ain’t nobody got time to be paranoid or play amateur sleuth. Say goodbye to all that!
7. No Going the Extra Mile.
Do you always feel like you have to put your best foot forward when you’re in a relationship? Now, you can just let loose and not have to worry about pleasing your partner or going the extra (unappreciated) mile. Isn’t that the life?
8. You Can Eat Anything.
Cookies, pizza, and soda in one sitting? That dream is a reality when you’re single and hanging out by yourself at home watching Netflix. There’s no need to impress anyone or keep appearances. When you’re single, you can do you.
9. Your Bed is All Yours.
Gosh, isn’t this reason so reinvigorating? You don’t have to share your bed with anyone now. No more worrying if you’ll wake your SO up with your little movements. No more surviving snoring issues every single night. And my goodness, what else can make you happier than all that bed space?
10. You Can Save Money.
Now that you’re single, it’s time to start saving some money! No more dates, fancy dinners or buying gifts. Yes!
11. No Waiting By Your Phone.
Isn’t having to wait for a message or call from your significant other annoying? Hours have passed and you still find yourself staring at your phone or checking every single notification immediately. Finally, you don’t have to go through that anymore.
12. Date Around.
Oh yes! You now have the freedom to get to know as many people as possible. Go on dates, flirt, who cares? As long as you’re happy and making the most out of your single-hood, then it’s all good, girl!
13. No More Guilt.
Not being in a relationship means no longer feeling guilty about what you said, what you didn’t say, or what you did and didn’t do. Feeling guilty is annoying as hell and now, you can bid farewell to any guilty feelings that being with someone else can inspire.
14. The End of Mind Games.
Not only can a relationship be emotionally stressful, it can also take its toll on the mind. Being in a relationship means someone is, at any point in time, playing mind games on the other which can be exhausting and nerve-wracking. Thankfully, you no longer have to take part in this.
15. Keep the Seat Down.
Probably the best reason of all, you can now keep the toilet seat down… forever!
Being single is not the end of the world. It is actually life unfolding in front of you. There’s so many perks to being single and I highly suggest you take this phase by the hand and enjoy every second of it. It’s all about being a full-pledged independent woman — loving yourself before others, taking care of your needs above the needs of others and most of all, building yourself up more than impressing others.
