15 Best-Dressed Celebs At The American Music Awards 2016

Edgy and Out-Of-The-Box Looks From This Year’s Show

Did you catch the American Music Awards 2016? Aside from the music, I loved seeing my favorite celebs and musicians wear eye-catching and trendy outfits! Red carpets are my favorite part of any awards show, sometimes even more than the awards themselves. I think we all dream of walking a red carpet one day, all primped up and dressed to the nines.

I had a really hard time picking my favorites from the American Music Awards 2016 red carpet. Most of the time I pick outfits that are unique or truly scene-stealing, but most of the looks on the red carpet were unique and scene-stealing! I think I did a good job though, and my red carpet picks really represent the creativity of this year’s outfits.

1. Hailee Steinfeld

|

Hailee Steinfeld has really transformed, don’t you think? I almost didn’t recognize her, and I mean that in a good way. I adore her turquoise glitter outfit—it’s so chic yet also very awards show-appropriate! And can you believe that’s a romper? I’d wear this to all my holiday parties.

2. Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen is one of my biggest style icons right now, and her outfit for the American Music Awards 2016 just proves it! I love how she’s not afraid of taking big risks, how she’s comfortable in her own skin, and how she owns every single outfit.

3. Keke Palmer

Speaking of owning your outfit, Keke Palmer did an amazing job bringing the attitude to the American Music Awards 2016! I used to think mesh clothes were tacky, but Keke’s outfit clearly proves otherwise. The pink faux fur coat is a much-needed contrast to her rugged, metal-like mesh separates.

4. Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez stole the show at the American Music Awards 2016, in more ways than one. She won in the fashion department, that’s for sure! Rocking a simple yet stunning Prada ball gown, Selena gave an emotional speech that night. I love how the dress is simple on top with a scoop neckline, and then very princess-like with the huge circle skirt. Selena’s natural, simple beauty really stood out!

5. Lady Gaga

Even if Selena came in a show-stopping gown, Lady Gaga makes it hard for me to declare Selena the best-dressed of the best-dressed! Lady Gaga also kept it clean and sleek with a white power suit (and flare pants!) and a matching white hat. I think it’s time to bust out my crisp white power suit!

6. Karlie Kloss

I love this dress—I’d wear it right now if I could! Karlie’s dress for the American Music Awards 2016 struck the perfect balance between timeless and innovative. The black and navy blue fabric make the dress awards show-ready, but the uneven hemline, half sleeve, and unexpected high neckline are such unique and creative touches.

7. Tinashe

We saw quite a few see-through dresses at the American Music Awards 2016 red carpet, but I think Tinashe did it best. While others looked tacky, severe, or seemed like you can’t wear it outside of a red carpet, Tinashe’s see-through dress hit all the right notes. The billowy fabric, the eye-catching print, and the trendy touches like the off-shoulder top and dramatic slit make for a picture-perfect red carpet look.

8. Ciara

|

Elaborate skirts and hems seemed to be a big trend at the American Music Awards 2016 red carpet, and Ciara wasn’t about to get left behind. Her black and white dress is both classic and fashion-forward. I love how she kept her shoes simple as well!

9. Nina Dobrev

It’s pretty common to see shorts, pants, and rompers at shows like the American Music Awards 2016, so Nina Dobrev clearly took advantage of it. I love the jewel detail on her outfit, it really glasses up a plain black shorts and blazer combo.

10. Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid was also one of the most talked-about celebs at the American Music Awards 2016, and she looked fabulous. On one hand, I like seeing red carpet dresses I can wear in real life. But on the other, I also enjoy seeing dreamy dresses so special, you can really only wear it on the red carpet.

11. Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande always dresses her age, and I admire her so much for that. Her pants and lace top combo are so trendy and relatable, there’s no surprise she’s a style icon of many!

12. Fifth Harmony

#SquadGoals, yes? The best part of Fifth Harmony’s outfits is how they’re all united by a common theme: wrap details and slits or uneven hemlines. And yet, they’re still showing off each of their personal styles. I can’t choose a favorite dress!

13. Julianne Hough

|
In a sea of black and white, Julianne Hough brought 90s-inspired metallics to the American Music Awards 2016 red carpet. Her dress, her straight hair and center part, and her silver pointed pumps make for a 2016 upgrade of all our 90s fashion favorites.

14. Janelle Monae

Who says you can’t wear stripes on stripes? Janelle Monae clearly proves otherwise. She was very cohesive with her styling for the red carpet: all her pieces had black and white elements.

15. Bella Throne

How do you stand out on a red carpet with an all-black outfit? According to Bela Thorne, you go wild with hair dye. Her green-dipped hair really pops out against her black power suit, making her look so fierce!
