Astrology | Tribute to the Selfless Warriors on Memorial Day

May 25, 2016 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

Remember those who served before.
Remember those who are no more.
Remember those who serve today.
Remember them as we eat and play.
Remember our protectors-
who are not home today.
Remember them all on Memorial Day.

Commemorating Memorial Day

Regardless of the exact date and time or points of its roots, one thing is certain– Memorial Day emerged from the Civil War and it has a yearning to honor and and give tribute to our departed fellowmen. In General Order No. 11, General John Logan, the national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, proclaimed Memorial Day officially on May 5, 1868.

“The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land…” -General Order No.11

The Decoration Day‘s date, as Logan termed it, was selected because on that day, no particular battle or warfare is celebrating its commemoration.

However, the said-to-be first Memorial Day happened on May 1, 1865. It was that time when thousands of slaves and servants were brought together in Charleston, South Carolina to wash and suit up the cadaver of 257 killed Union soldiers who have been thrown and abandoned in a mass grave. These fallen soldiers were reburied in a proper and suited cemetery. A parade of thousands of black people from Charleston, mostly of former servants, headed the procession and dedication of the catacombs. After the burial ceremony, picnics and festivity followed.

Despite of your different beliefs and political preferences, it’s a reality that the fallen combats seldom receive due unless they bumped off in a war. Great distinction and honor welcomes them, but for the soldiers who were able to withstand the war, despite being physically and psychologically wounded, oftentimes have nowhere to go or turn, and worst, are disregarded.

In astrology, Mars is the representation of warriors and battles. Looking at the astrological chart, Mars can be found in Gemini, the sign who seeks experience and metamorphosis. Mars in Gemini does not have a great harmony of power because it can lead to disturbance and pursuit of a variety of experiences. This can be observed in the disposition of the United States in putting itself in attacks around the world instead of concentrating on one distinct dilemma and gather strength and force in that area.

Moreover, Gemini-Mars is coincided by Neptune, the planet of high standards and goals, but weaved with betrayal and turmoil. Up to this day, we still have troopers who do not know what they are battling for. The objective of the encounters in the Middle East have been altered and modified which shows a Gemini way of thinking and the towering ideals (a Neptune’s trait) which motivated young men to give up their lives have all been gone.

Here’s a clip about some interesting facts about Memorial Day. Check it out:

May this day be dedicated not just for the departed warriors and fighters but also for the living soldiers around the globe. May they experience the honor, recognition and appreciation that they truly deserve after choosing and serving the country first before prioritizing their own families and themselves as well.
