Watching behind the screen, we usually think that celebrities have the perfect life. They party hard, they make lots of money, they’re beautiful, they have a team that caters to their every whim, and they’re world famous. What we fail to realize is that all of these external things don’t contribute to real happiness and that everyone, celebrities included, go through tough times in life. I admire Delevingne for speaking about her fight with depression, what she went through and what she did to overcome it (writing and yoga!). This should be an inspiring story for people who feel the same way.
Her story reaches out to troubled teenagers and adults who battle depression. She removes herself from the pedestal and tells everyone, “Hey! I’m like you. I had a rough time growing up too.” It makes people relate to her more and find courage to fight the way she did. Kudos, Cara, for your story and may everyone learn about it too.
