Comedy Movies to Watch on Netflix to Start Your Year Right

Let’s start the year with big smiles! Are you with me on this one? Laugh January away with these comedy movies to watch on Netflix.

Don’t you miss those days when you just watch no-brainer comedy flicks and feel happy afterward? If you ask me, I do! That’s why I’m so excited to share with you these movies to watch on Netflix this month! There’s a good mix of the good ol’ classic funny movies and romcoms that we really like. Isn’t that exciting or what?

Comedy Movies to Watch on Netflix This January

Itching for new movies to watch on Netflix? Me too! It really doesn’t matter if you just plan to do some binge (eating and) watching on your own or watch these flicks with a friend or significant other. What’s important is that you actually get to watch them! Do your Netflix and chill sessions (literally) and enjoy a huge selection of comedy movies. But hey, I ain’t got all day here so I chose ten of my ultimate comedy favorites here. I hope you like them too!

1. Mean Girls

First on the list is the iconic movie “Mean Girls.” Iconic? Yes! Because let’s be honest here, we all know the best lines from this movie like “Stop making fetch happen!” and “She doesn’t even go here!”. LOL! Watching this movie always makes me feel good; it’s fun and funny! I’m sure if you watch it again, you’ll still feel just the same as when you first watched it.

2. Meet the Parents

Gaylord Focker is meeting the parents! It’s incredibly awkward and most often, cringe-y, but it’s comedy gold. Bring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro together in a comedy movie, what do you get? Beautiful chaos!

3. Clueless

Aaahh…so nostalgic! I can still remember that scene where Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Josh (Paul Rudd) kissed! Definitely one of my favorite movies growing up, “Clueless” is a film you’d want to watch time and again.

4. Silver Linings Playbook

The chemistry between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper is incredible and the screen instantly lights up when you see them together. Apart from these beautiful human beings, the story is definitely one to watch too. Pat (Cooper) just came from a mental institution after losing his wife and job. He met Tiffany (Lawrence) who is a widower who promised Pat she’ll help her get her wife back. Of course, you know how this story ends!

5. Galaxy Quest

Are you fan of Star Trek? I am and I really find this movie so funny! In the movie, the late Alan Rickman and Tim Allen are popular actors of the “Star Trek” TV show but things become real when the actors were abducted by aliens! Why? The aliens actually need their help! I say that aliens were watching the wrong channel.

6. Love Actually

This is for all the romantic comedy lovers out there. Love Actually is a classic romcom that shows a number of narratives during the holidays. Prepare for an emotional rollercoaster on this one. There will be tons of laughter and tears at the same time.

7. Amelie

Amelie is a foreign movie that many might not consider watching BUT I’m telling you, this is a must-watch! Played by Audrey Tautou, Amelie is a waitress who discovers a treasure; the very same treasure that will get her into trouble. See how Amelia can survive the sabotage and enjoy the oh-so beautiful Paris!

8. Trainspotting

Before he was a Jedi, Ewan McGregor played Mark Renton, a young heroin addict in Trainspotting. It’s British comedy and somewhat brutally honest as well. Despite the humor, it also takes on the widespread issue of heroin use back in the 1990s. For some people, Trainspotting is always on the top of their move fave movie list.

9. Eagle vs Shark

Have you heard of “Flight of the Conchords?” They’re a comedic duo hailing from New Zealand. Jemaine Clements took on a movie role where he plays a pretentious tough guy who seeks revenge against his high school bully. His love interest accompanies her back into his hometown but she has no idea what’s going on.

10. Tiny Furniture

If you love Lena Dunham, then you have to watch her first movie “Tiny Furniture.” As usual, you can see her unique comedy style in the film as she played a college brat who doesn’t know what to do after college. Her mom and sisters play her family in the movie too, which is a huge surprise considering how funny they all are!
