How To Create Loose Curls | Hair Tutorial

March 4, 2019 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

Do you want curls, but always come out looking like Shirley Temple? We’ve got the remedy! This easy to follow tutorial will have you beachy in no time, with loose curls galore!

How To Create Loose Curls | Hair Tutorial

Supplies you will need for luscious loose curls:

  • Curling Iron
  • Comb
  • Shine Spray or Serum
  • Hairspray
  • Butterfly clips

Step 1: De-tangle!

Before you tackle any hair masterpiece, you must start with a fresh canvas. I prefer to curl my hair the day after I shampoo it, just so that way the oil will reduce fly aways. So although freshly washed hair isn’t a necessary, do comb out any tangles.

Detangle!

Step 2: Section.

To ensure all our hair is curled (leaving straight pieces NEVER looks good) we are going to section our hair starting from the bottom. Section out a 2″ section. Clip the top up with a butterfly clip.

Step 3: Take it from the top!

Taking a small section (if you have fine hair take a 2″ wide section, if you have thick hair take 1″) hold your iron perpendicular to the floor and wrap around the iron from the root of your hair to the tip. The last thing to touch the iron is the ends. The end of the hair is the oldest part, therefore has suffered the most damage, and will take less time to curl than the body of your hair.

Step 4: Now Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!

Now comes the daunting part, curling each piece. Take your time and be sure to curl every piece in small sections so you get even curls.

Step 5: Loosening the curls.

Now that you’ve finished curling the hair, it’s time to piece out and relax the curls. If you have shine spray, spray the ends of the hair. Avoid the root, otherwise it could look greasy or lose body. If you have serum, use about a dime sized amount, rub it on your palms and fingers, and run through the ends of your hair. Run your fingers through your hair to stretch the curls. Shine spray or serum is an important step because it cause the hair not to frizz up during this step.

Use sparingly on fine hair.

Step 6: Lock into place.

Once you have relaxed your curls, spray a generous amount of hairspray, focusing on the ends. This will ensure your curl lasts all day.

There you have it! Loose curls with shine and hold! Be sure to try it out and let us know how it works out!
