DIY Jewelry | Silver and Turquoise Feather Pendant That Will Make You Dazzle and Stand Out
Make Your Own Elegant Pendant
We bet you already tried making bracelets or earrings that describe your personality. Today, we’ll try making a pendant. This charming accessory will totally help you pull off a classy look for any formal or casual gathering. It looks gorgeous, it’s easy to make and most importantly, you will love its style and elegance.
You’ll need:
- Black Clay
- Turquoise Stone Cabochon (25mm)
- Silver Mica Powder
- Soft brush
- Pasta Machine
- Xacto Knife
- Ball Tool
It’s time to put your master jeweler hat on!
Instructions:
Step 1: Roll Out the Black Clay
To get started, roll out the black clay and place the turquoise stone. Sketch the shape of the pendant. It will somehow look like an avocado with the stone in the middle.
Step 2: Cut Out
Cut out the pendant shape with the use of the Xacto knife and then smooth the edges using your fingers.
Step 3: Roll Out
If you like playing with clay, then you’ll love the next steps.
Roll out two snakes of black clay and twist them together. Place them around the stone, this will serve as the border.
Step 4: Feather Shapes
Roll out a sheet of black clay on your pasta maker (level 6). On that sheet, start cutting out feather shapes like the ones shown above.
Step 5: Put the Design
Place the feather shapes one or two at a time around the stone. To make the design more feather-like, texture them with thin lines along the sides. For the spines of the feather, roll out thin snakes of clay and place them on the center.
Continue on placing the feather designs until you’re satisfied with the number and the arrangement. You can be more creative and put your personal touch, it totally depends on you!
Step 6: Cut a Hole
A pendant needs a chain, so cut out a small hole at the top of the pendant. You can use the Xacto knife. You’ll notice that it’s probably rough around the edges so smooth the hole with the ball tool.
Step 7: Fill In Empty Spaces
Fill in the empty spaces with dot texture using the ball tool. It will make your pendant look more detailed.
Step 8: Silver Powder
With the help of a soft brush, add silver mica powder all over the pendant. Don’t forget to put some on the back of the pendant as well. It totally made it look expensive and elegant, right? And for the final step, bake the clay according to the instructions located on its package.
