19-year-old model and Instagram sensation, Essena O’Neill, is quitting social media for all the right reasons.
19-year-old model Essena O’Neill broke through the superficial facade of social media when she released her personal expose on both her modeling and social media experience.
In the past couple of days, O’Neill has been making one headline after another after posting Instagram photos with captions explaining the real deal behind the photos. There was one photo where she showed her abs in a bikini and said that it took her over hundreds of shots just to get it right. There are also other photos of her wearing clothes where she explained that she was paid to wear them.
O’Neill has already deleted her Instagram account and made a video to thank everyone for their support. She is now encouraging everyone to join her movement via her site Let’s Be Game Changers. She has had enough and wants to inspire young adults to make a change for the better.

My take? It’s about time someone speaks up! Honestly, I’m shocked as to how many young adults value their self worth on the number of social media likes. The number of likes does NOT dictate how special you are as a human being. However, with social media addiction, it seems, for some, this is the case. I admire O’Neill for speaking and standing up for herself. She had a wake up call and I really admire her courage to try and wake up everyone too.
