Fashionable girls also know that timeless pieces like the perfect pair of jeans or white button-down shirts are investments you need to splurge on! Fall fashion is no different. So if you’re updating your closet with fall fashion this year, don’t leave out the basics! Trust me, these fall fashion essentials will be worth the splurge.
Fall Fashion Pieces You Should Invest In This Season
These Fall Fashion Essentials Are Worth Every Penny
When I put together a look, I always try my best to strike a balance between trendy and classic. While I absolutely adore this season’s trends (velvet is so luxurious!), I find myself going back to basics most of the time. Year in and year out, I wear timeless clothes like white button-down shirts, jeans, and coats. Which is why when it comes to these essentials, I’ve really invested in high-quality pieces that won’t fall apart after just one season. These are styles that will stand the test of time, so the quality should last as well! When it comes to fall fashion, I’ve made a few investments that I think you should really splurge on as well. Just keep scrolling to see them!
1. Cozy Sweaters
Cozy sweaters are a fall fashion no-brainer. Sweater weather is for everyone: students, working girls, moms. It’s good to have sweaters in different fabrics, textures, and thicknesses, but keep them timeless by sticking to neutral colors like black, white, cream, or grey. They’re also easy to mix and match with other fall fashion trends!
2. Black Jeans
Fall fashion usually means warmer colors and fabrics. So if you’re going to get a pair of pants this season, invest in dark yet versatile colors like black.

3. Plaid
Plaid is a fall fashion staple that we see every year. I’m sure we all have at least one plaid shirt in our wardrobes! You can mix it up also by investing in other plaid pieces like shirt dresses or scarves.
4. Ankle Boots
For shoes, fall fashion means one thing: out with the sandals, in with the boots. Knee-high boots are on-trend this year, but a pair of ankle boots will keep you stylish this year and beyond.
5. Blazers
Fall fashion also means a transition from more casual summer wear to more formal fall looks. A blazer is an investment you should never hesitate on. Wear it to work with a power suit or wear it on weekends with jeans or shorts for a chic look.
6. Little Black Dresses
Speaking of more formal looks, fall means it’s warm enough to wear black! An LBD is a necessary investment because like a blazer, you’ll wear it everywhere. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but it does have to fit you perfectly!
7. Midi Dresses
Because the colder months are here, fall fashion pieces usually have longer hemlines. So skip the mini dresses and go for midi dresses this season. They’re so much more chic!
8. Camel Coats
No fall fashion look is complete without a touch of warm camel. A camel coat goes with everything: jeans, pants, skirts, dresses, the works. Find one that’s just the right length for you, and I promise you’ll be wearing it every single year.
9. White Button-Down Shirts
A girl can never have enough white button-down shirts in her wardrobe. Because these are such common pieces, it’s really important to invest in shirts that fit your body right. Make sure they’re not too tight, not too loose, and have just the right sleeve length.
10. Pullovers
For more laid-back looks, I turn to pullovers. Like sweaters, invest in neutral colors like black or cream. Wear them with pants for a no-fuss look, or pair it with a skirt for an instant girly tough.
11. Anything Orange
Whatever the year’s color trends may be, fall fashion always makes room for orange. So you should too! It will give your wardrobe a much-needed pop of color, while still staying warm and on-season.
