12 Effortlessly Chic Ways To Wear Tights This Fall

Tights are one of my go to pieces whenever it’s fall season. I just love how versatile they are. To be honest, I’ve probably lost count over how many pairs of black tights I’ve accumulated over the years; this says a lot about how they’re such a closet staple of mine. In my defense, though, black tights are chic and timeless and they keep my legs warm. #thingsitellmyself

12 Effortlessly Chic Ways To Wear Tights This Fall

I can’t get enough of fall. Pumpkin spice lattes, colors of orange and red from the fallen leaves — ahh, I get a warm fuzzy feeling just thinking about my favorite season.

Today, I’ll be taking you through one of my favorite fall must-haves: black tights. They’re practical, inexpensive, and they go with almost everything in my closet. Don’t believe me? Keep on reading for my 12 different ways of wearing tights this fall.

1. With Shorts

This is one of my favorite hacks for surviving fall weather sans pants. I get a pair of my black tights — the ones with the thicker material — and wear them under my favorite denim shorts. I’ve been doing this for years now and it’s still one of my favorite outfits up to date.

2. With Mini Skirts

If it can be done with shorts, then it must be tried with mini skirts too! Whether I’m celebrating a girls night out with my best gals, or just spending a day at the cafe taking my time over a cup of coffee, tights worn with a mini skirt keep me warm without sacrificing any points for style.

3. With Pleated Skirts

Pleated skirts always remind me of my childhood. Decked in my school uniform, white socks, and black flats, my mom always did her best to make sure I looked immaculate for class.

Fast forward to today, I still have a fondness for pleated skirts. I don’t wear them that often now, but when I do, it’s usually paired with today’s subject. For some reason — though I don’t know particularly know why — the pleats always look better against black tights. Try it out for yourself and let me know if you feel the same!

4. With Casual Dresses

Take your favorite dress up a notch by pairing it with black tights. Whatever the material of your dress — knitted or ribbed — it’s almost certain that your legs will look more shapely when covered with a pair of tights.

5. With Little Black Dresses

LBDs are one of my guilty pleasures. In my opinion, a girl can never have too many of them. They’re the perfect canvas for statement accessories, long coats, and when paired with black tights, they help make for a lengthier figure. Ladies, if you’re on the lookout for your next outfit this fall, look no further. This LBD and black tights combo is a classy ensemble waiting to be photographed.

6. With Coats

A good structured coat will never go out of style. I usually stick to solid and neutral colors of grays, tans, and blacks for my range of coats since they’re easier to pair with outfits. But now I think it’s time to look for a crimson or an emerald colored one. I bet the color will pop out more against an all black ensemble.

7. With Scarves

I’ve always admired how some people can look so put together even in the most relaxed outfits. One key accessory are comfy scarves that most ladies just throw on. It’s an ultimate example of comfy chic done right!

8. With Anything Leather

Leather is one of the materials that always make an appearance during fall season. Whether through a jacket or a skirt, a little bit of it always goes a long way. I’m a huge fan of black and white ensembles so this look of a black leather jacket atop a white dress is the perfect cross between edgy and girly — love love LOVE this outfit.

9. With Sneakers

If you’re going to do a lot of walking, I recommend snuggling your feet into a pair of comfy sneakers. There are so many different styles to choose from now — some of the more popular ones being the Stan Smiths and Gazelles of Adidas. Whichever it is that you choose, I’m sure that you’ll be rocking your fall outfit regardless.

10. With Your Fave Boots

One great thing about wearing black tights is how you’re able to create length when you wear black boots along with it. This is because wearing the same colors give off an illusion that your legs are longer.

Want to take this a notch higher? Wear a mini skirt or something high waisted with your black tights and boots. You’ll look like you have legs for days!

11. Patterned Tights

Black tights don’t have to be boring. Switch it up by getting ones with cute prints on them. I usually go for the dainty designs and pair them with my favorite miniskirt for a more feminine touch. But sometimes when I’m feeling adventurous, I’d get ones with the strappy patterns and wear them under my high waisted shorts.

12. With Ripped Jeans

A little bit of skin never hurt anyone. Amp up the fierceness this fall season by wearing tights under your ripped jeans. The hint of flesh offers a hint of subtle sexiness without being too in-your-face — because sometimes less really is more. This look is a fashion statement waiting to happen, ladies. It’s edgy, cool, and bound to turn a few heads.
