Your Head-to-Toe Guide To This Year’s Best Fall Outfits
In every season, there are critical fashion pieces that you MUST have in your wardrobe. This ESPECIALLY holds true for the beautiful fall season when the styles are way better than they are in the summer. When planning your wardrobe, keep in mind the balance between classic and trendy looks so that your closet stays fall fashion ready for seasons to come.
Let’s get started on the checklist:
1. Tops
Fall fashion tends to be more focused on what you’ve got going on top, so it’s important that you have the right pieces to create a well thought out look.
Blouse
Plain shirts and tanks are great to use underneath jackets and blazers. Even if you’re going for plain colors, look for pieces that have some kind of style or flair to them – we’re talking cut-outs, graphics, textures, and more. Go for a not-so-ordinary white blouse because this is SO EASY to match. A plaid top is always a hit in the fall so make sure you have at least one in your closet too.
Sweaters
Have you been saving your chunky sweaters and over-sized sweater dresses? The wait is over because it’s time to wear the heck out of them this fall! Solid colors are always a hit and if you’re looking for added style, go for ribbed knits too!
Jackets
For the jackets, you must at least have one of these: a leather, moto or bomber jacket. These are the hottest jackets to wear for fall so make sure you got one of them in your closet in neutral colors such as gray, black or white.
Coats, Capes and Blazers
Camel is a HUGE color for Fall 2015 so you must have at least one camel-colored coat, cape or blazer in your wardrobe. If you’re a coat kind of girl, go for a pea, classic trench or a duster coat. If you’re more of a blazer kind-of-girl, the cropped boyfriend blazer is the one to get!
2. Bottoms
Fall bottoms give your look more edge, especially if you’re fond of plain tops.
Skirts
This season, the hottest skirts to wear are pencil or pleated skirts, or skirts with a windowpane print. Even if you’re not into skirts that much, just have one of these for those special occasions.
Pants
For the pants, it’s all about skinny jeans and tights as usual. They look great with chunky tops as well as boots so please have a couple of these in your closet! You can go for jeggings (jeans+leggings), stockings, colored tights or if you want to do a more rockin’ look, wear leather skinnies!
3. Accessories
You just gotta have some of these accessories to perk up your look, girl!
Bags
The trendy fall bags may not be a hit for everyone, but I’m sure you’ll find at least one that you really like. Faux reptile-skin and faux fur bags are hot hot hot this fall, but they can be a bit over-the-top for a simple lady.
On the other hand, if you prefer something simpler, go for big bags and bucket bags this fall. These solid colors and leather bags are easy to match with any outfit.
Hats
No fall wardrobe is complete without hats. Tis’ the season to wear them with pride! (Unless it’s a fedora.) The classic French beret is a staple every fall season so I’m sure you have this one already. You can add another hat in your wardrobe, the wide brimmed hat which really adds sophistication to any look you piece together.
Scarf
Another fall accessory essential is the scarf, especially the infinity scarf. Not only do these things add style to any look, but they’re also incredible useful given that winter is coming (just had to get it in there; Game of Thrones fan right here). For scarves, faux fur stoles, faux fur scarves and plaid scarves are the best to wear right now.
Shoes
Aside from the pretty boots you already have, you can choose either of these two to add to your shoe collection. If you’re feeling edgy and bold, go for the moto boots. If you want something a bit more androgynous or classic looking, go for loafers.
Jewelry
Fall 2015 jewelry will not take a backseat. They’re screamin’ because they definitely want your attention this season! If you like wearing jewelry, go for statement necklaces and earrings. If you don’t like wearing them, pin a statement brooch on your top instead.
4. Makeup
I know I know. This is a fashion list, but I really have to put this here. Dark lips are an ESSENTIAL fall look, which means you have to have dark red, deep plum and vampy shades on your makeup counter. There’s just no excuse for not having them.
Wow! That was a long checklist, but do know that you don’t need to get every item on this list. It also just depends on your personal style! Now you have a good idea of what pieces will be big this fall to keep your closet updated…or not.
