- Tape Measure
- Tailor’s Chalk
Step 1: Measure the Length of the Strap
Using the tape measure, measure the length of the strap of the heels. This is where you’re going to put the suede cloth.
Note: Make sure you do not cover the holes in the strap where you secure the buckle.
Step 2: Measure the Cloth
With the length that you’ve measured from the strap, measure the same length with the suede cloth. Cut it out and put it on the strap to make sure it has the same length.
Step 3: Measure the Width of the Strap
Measure the width of the strap.
Using the tailor’s chalk, mark the side of the cloth with the measure of the width of the strap. The side with the same length as the strap.
Step 4: Measure the Fringes
Draw lines on the suede cloth using the tailor’s chalk. Make sure they are 5mm apart.
Step 5: Cut the Fringes
After drawing the lines, cut the markers. make sure you do not cut the boundaries where you marked the width of the strap. You will need that uncut width to attach the cloth to the strap.
After cutting through the lines, this is what it will look like. Now you’ve done the fringes.
Step 6: Attach the Fringes
Using the E6000 industrial strength adhesive, attach the fringes to the shoe strap. And you’re done. Repeat the same method with the other shoe.
You’re ready to go.
Your finished product will look like this. Of course, you can do these methods with a different colors of shoes and cloth.
