Gut-Wrenching Game of Thrones Season 6 Finale Recap!

June 28, 2016 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

Left out from one of the most-loved episodes of Game of Thrones Season 6? In case you’re too busy doing other things, here’s a quick recap of the most awaited highlights of the recent season of the TV series. Get ready for spoilers if you haven’t watched it! You’ve been warned.

Gut-Wrenching Game of Thrones Season 6 Finale Recap!

Episode 10: The Winds of Winter Quick Rundown

When things come to an end, a beginning will surely arise from it.

Definitely, before ending a fantastic season, Game of Thrones gave their viewers a bag full of surprises and revelations with their almost 70-minute finale episode (the longest episode of GoT so far). Along with the major characters of the series, the whole episode has paved its way from King’s Landing to the Riverlands.

The Season 6 GoT finale slashed off far more major characters (we’ll talk about them soon) compared to “Battle of the Bastards”.

Queen Again

Because of Cersei Lannister’s green wildfire bomb that occurred in King’s Landing, The High Sparrow, Margaery, Ser Loras, Mace Tyrell, Lancel, and many sightseers (unfortunately) were all wiped out in a snap. As they vaporized, Cersei was from a distance, looking (and smirking) from her bedroom window. Though there are some expectations of Cersei’s escape from her rivals, this plan was definitely in its highest intensity. Like, how severe was that vengeance, Cersei?

Moreover, after this tragic event in the King’s Landing, Tommen decided to end his life as well by jumping out of the window and leaving his crown on a side table. What’s more lamentable over this scene was Cersei hardly show off a deserted and lonesome emotion while arranging the funeral of Tommen. Obviously, she got a heart of stone by then and it’s a cold one!

But Cersei’s moments didn’t stop there. Towards the end of the episode, Cersei was declared as the Queen again. She was clothed in her ferocious and threatening black dress and a blank face was still seen in her. Surprisingly, Jaime comes in the picture after the Queen’s coronation.

Jon Snow’s Identity

Finally, it was revealed that Jon is a Stark. As Bran warged, he followed the young Ned Stark to the Tower of Joy. There he sees him and his dying sister, Lyanna, who just gave birth. As Lyanna gasped for her last breath, she entrusted her baby’s life to Ned and made him promise to protect her child. A part of their conversation seemed to be ‘muted’ for the viewers but probably, this is the other half of the truth we’re all looking forward to know… who is the biological father of Jon Snow? Now, we know that the baby whom Ned brought back to Winterfell with him was not his son, but his nephew.

Arya Stark’s Revenge

Another highlight of the episode was the comeback of Arya Stark in Westeros was her cold dish and horrendous revenge! In her disguised character, Arya fed Walder Frey with pies stuffed with his sons! Like, how morbid was that? And to top it all, Arya slashed Walder Frey’s throat and achieved her sweet revenge for The Red Wedding.

The Alliances

Who would forget the unexpected connections and alliances in this episode? Lady Olenna, who was left alone and wrecked because of the loss of most of her family (due to Cersei massive revenge plan), decided to travel to Dorne. She made connections with Ellaria and the Sand Snakes and happens to make alliances with Varys, too! Will the Lannisters come to its end as they work hand-in-hand now? Don’t forget that Varys also has connections with Daenerys and Tyrion!

And as Game of Thrones’ season finale nears to its end, Daenerys, her thousand ships and her three dragons made their voyage back to the Seven Kingdoms. No lines needed as the scene itself gave chills to its viewers! Indeed, the sweetest pay-off for the season and a simple reminder for GoT fans that there’s so much more to watch for the next season, a more blood-staining season, most probably.

There may be a lot of goodbyes for this episode, but hellos will never be out of the picture. Fans can’t surely wait for 2017 for the next season, though! Until then… The countdown to Season 7 starts now!
