Organiz-her: A Girl’s Guide to Organized

September 1, 2017 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

While planning a wedding and working three jobs might seem like a lot for one person, I am at a very exciting transitional time in my life where I feel that everything I am putting my energy into is fulfilling a personal passion. I get to write this amazing blog, I work at the most delicious cupcake bakery, and I just got my dream job with my favorite brand, Johnny Cupcakes! But with all this, being organized is a must.

A Girl’s Guide to Organized

My jobs are so much fun, but at the end of the day, work is work and it consumes the majority of my time. All work and no play can make a girl go crazy, ya hear me? When I finally have some free time during my busy week, I like to indulge in some of my favorite past times. Bargain shopping is my go-to guilty pleasure, spending time and laughing until my stomach hurts with my girl friends is essential, and organizing my home is the best feeling ever!  Yes, you heard that correctly, I enjoy organizing. Who am I kidding? I freaking love to organize!

They say having a clean space can really affect your happiness and I can vouch for this 1000%! The feeling of walking into a room and knowing exactly where everything is radiates a sense of relief and calmness over me. Whether it is my darling clothes rack, my bookshelf turned shoe-shelf, or my desk area where all the creative magic happens, each area is organized for precise efficiency and ease. I am obsessed with the way it makes me feel and have even gone so far as organizing my loved one’s rooms, just to help them, and myself, achieve that euphoric orderly feeling!

Clothes Rack

This drop dead gorgeous clothes rack is one of my most prized pieces in my whole house. I literally spent years trying to convince my fiancé to buy it for me! I used my coveted “investment piece” justification as well as promising him more room in our walk in closet. (*cough* for now) This past Christmas, my organizing dreams came true and my baby made this baby mine.

My clothes rack is jam-packed with my adored LC Lauren Conrad collection, Johnny Cupcakes tees, and all the tulle and scalloped things I own! It even has a bottom section to put my favorite shoes and larger bags! Most recently, I was so excited to FINALLY find the most perfect rose gold hangers with velvet details! This made an already stunning piece turn into pure (rose) gold and now I can hang my money where I like to see it…on my clothes rack!

Shoe Shelf

If you don’t know it by now, I have a thing for anything scalloped! I happened to stumble upon this darling scalloped bookshelf on Craigslist and scored it for a major steal! Since I only own a few books, most of them being by Lauren Conrad, it turned out to be the perfect piece to display my signature bag collection and some of my beloved shoes.

I love being able to have them on display and not confined to a shoe box or dust bag. I feel that keeping them packed away takes away from enjoying each piece! This way, I can still enjoy them all, even if I’m not actually using them.

Purse

Ladies, a purse can feel like a black hole when trying to locate something as small as a lipstick. I don’t have time to keep fumbling around–I need my belongings to be quickly obtainable! To keep it simple, I group particular items together.

I use my ID and debit card almost every day, so I have a small card holder just for them; this makes it easy to switch purses and be out the door in the matter of seconds. I’m big on coupons, so I keep all my coupons together in a small pouch. Same goes for all of my makeup; I put them in a designated bag so they aren’t rolling around at the bottom of my purse. All other everyday essentials are put together in my wallet, but categorized by business cards, credit cards, punch cards, etc. I’m a busy woman, and when on the go, I need my purse to be as organized as I am!

Desk

If there is one place that’s vital to keep organized, it’s my work place. To be able to keep the creative juices flowing, I need my desk area to be fun and busy, yet efficient! I keep my pens in a cute coffee cup, post-its and washi tape in mason jars, stationary in a card holder, and a hanging file holder for all of my important documents. The highlight of my workspace is my inspiration board for pinning goals and project ideas. Though simple and obvious, these basics help keep my things, time, and thoughts all where I need them…in plain sight.

Now, unless you’re like me and love to clean, this all might sound a little crazy, especially if you view organizing as a chore. But, I sincerely promise, if you set aside a weekend to de-clutter your essentials and prized possessions, you’ll be quickly convinced how effective and, dare I say, indispensable staying organized is! So ladies, get out there and show your life who’s boss! Show me and the world the best organiz-her you can be!
