Healthy Eating Tips You Need To Know For A Thinner Thanksgiving

November 22, 2016 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

We’re just days away from Thanksgiving…which means that you only have a few days to prepare your last-minute meals and to strategize how you can avoid gaining a few pounds this Thanksgiving. But hey, do not worry, I’ve got the best healthy eating tips that can help you out!

Woot! Turkey-fest is coming up and we’re really excited to fill our tummies with all the delicious meals and treats. However, you know what I’m not excited about? Gaining weight! During holidays like this, I often wonder if it’s even possible to enjoy the festivities (food to be exact!) without gaining weight. Fortunately, there is , but you also have to do your part. Today, I will share with you some healthy eating tips to keep the extra pounds off this Thanksgiving.

Healthy Eating Tips If You Don’t Want To Gain Too Much Weight

Come on, it’s no fun depriving yourself of eating what’s served on the table this Thanksgiving. Can you even resist that beautifully-baked Turkey? No, you can’t. Anyhow, there’s no point in not enjoying yourself this Thanksgiving because it’s a holiday where you must enjoy sharing meals with family and friends. Nonetheless, in order to avoid gaining a few pounds, you must also practice some self-control and put in the work, preferably before and after the parties. So, here are the healthy eating tips you can follow to have a thinner Thanksgiving this year:

1. Drink Water Before Meals

It’s your lucky day because I’ve got one of the best tips to share with you! Do you know that drinking water before meals can actually help you avoid weight gain? For one, it fills up the tummy so you feel full even before eating the meal. Another reason is that it can actually help you consume less calories when you eat. Thus, it also helps people lose weight. Lucky for us, drinking isn’t as challenging compared to what this cat has to go through! So… drink up!

2. Eat Small Snacks Before Meals

Eating small snacks before meals is helpful in preventing you from gobbling everything in sight. It dissipates the hunger and can dampen your appetite so you don’t go beast mode on that Turkey. Yes you, I’m looking at you! Munch some nuts, fresh carrots or whatever you fancy…just stay away from the junk food!

3. Walk After Meals

When I was younger, I always wondered why my grandparents always wanted to walk after eating. I couldn’t understand because after eating, all I wanted to do was sit or lie down. Now, I completely understand why walking after meals is one of the healthiest eating tips out there. The walking helps with digestion so you can say goodbye to bloating, constipation and all those nasty stuff!

4. Jog the Next Day

After a night of partying, I know it’s really hard to get up in the morning to exercise so give yourself some leeway here. Let’s make a deal. You can wake up a bit later BUT you have to promise yourself that you’ll jog for at least 30 minutes. And if you’re not the type of person who jogs, find another cardio exercise that can really get your heart rate going? Perhaps do Zumba, Belly Dancing, Crossfit, Taebo or even Yoga and Pilates. As long as you sweat it out for 30 minutes to an hour, then you’ve done your side of the deal!

5. Wear Tight Pants

Yup, you read that right and I’m not even kidding! Wear tight pants during Thanksgiving because I got the best two reasons why you should. First, tight pants will make you not want to eat a lot because you’re afraid that the button might just pop out! And second, you really don’t want those pants to get tighter right? I rest my case.

6. No Midnight Snacking

I love midnight snacking! This probably explains why I don’t lose weight even if I try (haha). So back to you… this Thanksgiving, you’re probably going to eat more than what you should. Given that, don’t even be tempted to eat before you sleep. The calories will continue to stack up and you won’t have any time to digest that too! Girl, keep your hands off the refrigerator…lock it if you must!

7. Talk More, Eat Less

Let’s end this list of healthy eating tips with a bang! Here, I give you the most fun tip of all–talk more, eat less. True enough, the more you talk, the less you’ll be focused on eating what your hand can reach. Moreover, this is the time to bond with your loved ones, .so share stories with one another and help each other not to keep eating that turkey!
