Hot Yoga Benefits: 5 Ways It Builds Physical Strength
Hot Yoga Benefits That Promise A Better and Leaner Body
When I started doing yoga, I only have one goal in mind: improve my balance. I grew up quite clumsy, you see. However, as I try different types of yoga, I gain so much more. For example, do you know that one of the hot yoga benefits is improving physical strength?
But how does it work exactly? I have listed 5 points below:
1. Work those muscles – slowly
Some of the people I know are apprehensive to do yoga because it’s low impact. But that’s actually the reason why I love it. It means it doesn’t put serious stress on my muscles. Not only that, all the muscle stretches and contractions help tone and build muscles.
2. Detox
One of the best benefits of hot yoga is certainly detoxification or the removal of toxins in the body, particularly by sweating. I find this very important simply because the fewer toxins there are in the body, the less likely you’re going to get sick. When you are not sickly, you have more time to do yoga.
3. Boost the heart rate
The heat of the room can increase your level of heart rate that makes hot yoga quite similar to doing cardio. Better cardio endurance means lasting longer in your yoga sessions. Besides, the heart is a muscle, if not the most important muscle in the body, it deserves some love.
4. Calm the mind
I believe that there’s interdependence among the mind, body, and spirit. If you want to improve one, you also need to enhance the others to achieve the goal. Based on my many years of doing yoga, this holds true. A calmer mind and spirit sharpen my focus and increase my motivation especially on days when I feel I cannot lift my body.
5. Burn the fats
One of the awesome hot yoga benefits is weight loss. The steamy room can boost your metabolism so you’ll burn more calories and use up more of your stored energy in the form of fat. In the process, you’re shaping your muscles.

Although these hot yoga benefits are great, you don’t gain physical strength and muscles overnight. It took me at least a year before I started feeling toned. But don’t give up! As Dory says, keep swimming!
