Your Guide to Picking the Right Sunglasses
1. Determine your face shape
Basically, there are 4 shapes:
- oval
- square
- round
- triangular or heart-shaped
Which one is the closes to your face shape? How will you know? By outlining your face.

2. The Sunglasses

Now that you know your face shape, the question is: how to pick the appropriate sunglasses? Picking the appropriate sunglasses is easy.
You have to think of two keys: contrast and balance. Your sunglasses need to contrast your face shape.
Heart-Shaped Face:
A heart-shaped face looks great with a more quirky, retro shaped pair of sunglasses like a rectangular or ‘cat-eyed’ sunglasses.
Tip: Coloured frames and arms with strong detail will soften the lower portion of your face shape.
Round Face:
For a round face, soft but angular styles will pull your temple higher, lengthening your face and breaking up the roundness.
Oblong shaped:
We need to give width to an oblong-shaped face. So go for sunglasses that don’t extend beyond the widest part of your head. You’ll be aiming for round, square, and deep set frames for your face shape.
Square-Shaped:
A strong jaw line with wide cheekbones looks great with a rounded or aviator-shaped frame. Creams and neutral tones will also help soften and subtly frame the face.
Now you are ready to go hunting for that perfect pair.
