*Snaps for Jennifer Lawrence*
Jennifer Lawrence wrote an essay for Lena Dunham‘s new site, Lenny Letter (read the full essay here).
In the essay, Lawrence addresses gender pay inequality in Hollywood.
After the Sony email leaks, Lawerence had discovered she was being paid significantly less than her male counterparts. Lawrence blames her lack of negotiating for the wage gap.
“I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight,” Lawrence wrote in the essay. She goes on to say that that she didn’t want to seem difficult or spoiled and wonders if women are socially conditioned to behave in such a manner that they’re worried about their opinions sounding adorable and not offensive.
Lawrence gets her point across in such an eloquent, strong and humorous way. IT’S A MUST READ.
