6 Must-Have Runway-Inspired Jewelry Trends For 2020
To the average girl who’s moderately interested in fashion, runway looks may seem too out of this world or not wearable every day. But to fashion fans like me (and a lot of others!), fashion week is a way to preview accessory trends for the coming seasons.
You just need to keep your eyes open and your observation skills sharp! But if you missed the Spring/Summer 2020 runways, I’ve got your back.
Here are some of the top jewelry trends for this season!
1. Statement Hoops and Single Earrings
Earrings stole the spotlight on the New York runways. From supersize hoops to mismatched drop style chandeliers, statement earrings are one of the must-have accessories this year.
Hoops started resurfacing recently but this year they are back with a bang. Proenza Schouler’s collection showcased ultra-thick hoops that demanded attention.
Another popular spring trend is the single sculpted earring. Ease Into this asymmetrical trend with an oversized hoop or embrace it fully with a boho tassel.
Lesson: be bold with your earrings this season!
2. Dramatic Collar Necklaces
Bejeweled and daring collars are back. Dramatic collars are spectacular, yet streamline and minimalist.
Sculpted leaf collars and embellished chokers are not just for special occasions. Pair a statement collar with your favorite everyday look.
3. Chain Link Necklaces
Chain link necklaces are bigger and bolder than ever. If the spring/summer runways are any indication, we’re saying goodbye to dainty necklaces and embracing punk-inspired chains.
Bottega Veneta, Brandon Maxwell, and Zimmermann showcased these trendy accessories on the spring runways.

4. Heirloom Inspired Cute Accessories
This season’s trendy accessories are all about emotional pieces with a personal touch.
Many designers drew inspiration from the past and included a heritage-inspired theme in their collections.
Remember the bracelet your mother gave you? It’s time to dig through your jewelry box and finally wear it!
5. Strings Of Pearls
Combine all the must-have accessories in one with pearls. Prabal Gurung’s collection featured edgy pearl pieces while Burberry highlighted the organic beauty of pearls.
Chunky necklaces and pearl ear cuffs give a modern feel to a classic accessory. Or craft a vintage-inspired look with a simple string of pearls.
Jackie Kennedy said; “Pearls are always appropriate” and we definitely agree!
6. Colorful Adornments
The spring/summer runways were full of Picasso-inspired pieces with gemstones and beads. Costume-like jewelry broke the metal motives and introduced bursts of color in all forms.
Candy-colored glass pieces or floral details give a romantic twist to this bold trend. For a more decadent look, add crystal-embellished necklaces or bracelets to your favorite outfit.
