Top 10 Life Lessons From Movies That Will Inspire You

Inspiring life lessons from movies leave an indelible mark in our lives. Whenever a certain film strikes me, expect a series of auto-plays (and unstoppable tears, too!). So let me share these movies that are not just close to my heart but also to my soul. If you’re running out of inspiration at the moment, let these movies get you back you back up and carry on!

1. “Live life to the fullest.”

You only have one life to live, enjoy, and fulfill so why not make the most out of it, right? In the movie “Me Before You“, Louisa Clark helped Will Traynor in making him see that his life is really worth living through the adventures they took together. Sometimes, all you need is someone who will open your eyes and show you the beauty of life, like what Louisa did.

2. “Just keep swimming!”

After the blockbuster hit “Finding Nemo” back in 2003, “Finding Dory” was the much-awaited sequel not just for kiddos but also for adults. Aside from family ties and friendship goals that were shown in the movie, moving forward despite setbacks was also tackled. Just go on! Persevere and be determined whatever life throws at you. When things get harder, just put your best foot forward and keep going. “Just keep swimming… Just keep swimming!”

3. “Calling someone fat doesn’t make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn’t make you any smarter. All you can do in life is try and solve the problem in front of you.”

If you’re trying to make an image of yourself for the people around you, don’t make ruthless judgments about other people. Since this is about you, all you have to do is BE YOURSELF and do your thing — without stepping on other people. Eventually, you’ll be able to resolve your issues and make a good impression of yourself. This is absolutely two thumbs up from the Means Girls!

4. “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around you once in a while, you could miss it.”

This line from the throwback movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is a realization of the paths you take to achieve success. Most of the time, you are too preoccupied with your goals of becoming successful. Sometimes, you neglect the people around you who are actually helping you out with your goals. This will not lead you to genuine success, ladies. Learn to appreciate and be conscious of small things.

5. “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”

I believe the all-time fave, “Forrest Gump” will not be complete without this quote. Indeed, life is a wonderful and sweet mystery. What happens today may not happen tomorrow or the day after. Every box of chocolate is unique–just like your life. The taste of a chocolate bar will be kept unrevealed unless tasted and eaten. Therefore, like a box of chocolates, your life is a mystery which unfolds as you taste a new day. So better give a good bite to your chocolates, okay? You’ll never know when it’s going to be sweet or bitter.

6. “You cannot live your life to please others. The choice must be yours.”

If you’re doing things just to please other people, take this lesson from “Alice in Wonderland“. How would you be able to live your life well if you will depend on other people’s judgment about you, your skills and your personality? Yes, taking suggestions from them is good especially if it’s for the better BUT, if your whole life will rely on their opinions, think twice, ladies. You only have one life to cherish so better live it the way you want it to be — not the way THEY want it.

7. “I know it may seem small and insignificant, but it’s not about what it is. It’s about what it can become.”

The Lorax” is an animated movie with a core message of environmental awareness. But despite being lovable in the eyes of the kids, adults may also gain insights from this movie — especially about chasing your dreams. Most of the time, you have a lot of plans and goals in life. Dreaming of success is good but making it happen is better. From a simple dream, make it work and let it be a reality. Nurture, protect and love your dreams. Sooner or later, these simple dreams will be huge achievements. Make a difference by starting NOW!

8. “I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.”

Is there really something good in saying goodbye? The movie, “Life of Pi” shares this lesson about farewell. Goodbyes can be one of the hardest lines a person can say to someone. Like parents saying goodbye to their children, a little boy to his pet dog or a woman breaking up with her boyfriend. *tears* But that’s basically what life is — a cycle. Welcoming new people in our lives and saying goodbye to our loved ones. So before coming to this point, make the most out of it. You may never know when that ‘final goodbye’ may come but at least, you’re able to make the people around you feel loved and valued.

9. “Adventure is out there.”

Aside from a house lifted by thousands (or even millions) of balloons, the animated movie “Up” is also a film about true love, friendship, and adventure. One thing you’ll learn from this film is to not be afraid of taking risks. Try new things, ladies! Don’t let your fears be the reason of your failures. Life is a series of trial and error so don’t stop trying unless you get it right! Be who you want to be no matter how many mistakes you make. Just stand tall and soar with flying colors. The adventure never ends!

10. “You got a dream. You gotta protect it. People can do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you ‘you can’t do it’. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.”

Another motivating lesson from a movie is this line from “The Pursuit of Happyness“. YOU CAN DO IT! Don’t stop dreaming. People around you might not see your abilities. But hey, it’s your dream! If you really want it and it makes you genuinely happy, grab it! Make it grow and be an inspiration to other dream chasers, too. Always, remember that things that are drawn from love and passion are usually the ones that succeed.
