Have you ever tried creating a lip art? Aside from the mainstream lip liners and lipsticks, putting tints onto your lips seem to explore another avenue of artistry and beauty. Let me tickle your mind with this article!
DIY Lip Art | Gold Sequins for Sparkling Lips
Learn how to spruce up your look with this glamorous lip art. This time, sequins take a higher step as a sparkling accessory to our lips! Get ready for this will surely hit your lips with a BANG!
Just a quick run-through of this gleaming idea, ladies! Vlada Haggerty, a makeup artist based in Los Angeles, started flooding her Instagram account with lips painted with different designs and doodles. Some of her works include floral designs, fruity desserts, and her signature drips (which reminds me of Kylie Lip Kits).
After some time, she added lips kissed with sprinkles, sequins, and crystals to her online ‘lip museum’ and gained more than 300,000 followers (and still counting!).
For this futuristic lip art, you’ll need:
- black liquid-to-matte lipstick
- latex adhesive
- gold sequins
- lip brushes
- pointed tool (for attaching the sequins)
With all your tools ready, let’s get started!
Step 1: Apply the base color
Apply a black liquid-to-matte lipstick on your well-exfoliated lips using a lip brush. Make sure that your lips are fully covered by the base color.
Step 2: Apply the latex adhesive
Let’s focus on your upper lip first! When the black base color is already dry, Apply the latex adhesive fully on your upper lip.
Step 3: Define and Fill-in
This is where the sparkles come in! Make an outline of your upper lip the gold sequins with the help of a pointed tool. Remember not to leave a space between the sequins. After defining it, create another row of sequins underneath the outline you made. Let your second row of sequins overlap the first. Continue doing the rows of sequins until your upper lip is fully covered.
Aside from filling in the empty spaces, overlapping sequins also give you an emboss effect on your lips which is very appealing to its admirers and onlookers.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3
Once you’re done with your upper lip, it’s now your lower lip’s time to shine! Again, you’ll coat your lower lips with a latex adhesive. Then, you’ll create an outline first using the gold sequins. Lastly, you’ll continue wrapping your lips fully with gold sequins with an overlapping effect.
Presenting the royal and magnificent lips of the season! *insert some glitter dust!* You’ll surely cut a dash wearing this kind of lip art!
