When it comes to makeup, I remember a much simpler time; a time when all we used was Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers and that small container of glitter that we stored in our Kaboodle. You could find all of these little gems at your local Albertson’s and getting ready only took about 10 minutes. Oh my, how things have changed…but in the best possible way! Today I’m discussing the makeup lovers staple: the makeup palette.
Makeup Palette, Gotta Have It
One day in 1990 BC (as in “Before Contour,” haha) the makeup Gods came together and said, “we giveth you contour and eye shadow palettes! Let there be (high)light!” And from that day forth, we were graced with the presence of the makeup palette. Sephora and Ulta stores formed out of thin air and thus, a new makeup generation was born! *pause for dramatic effect* And it happened just like that! Okay, not really, but close enough, right?
With so many amazing makeup products out there, it can get a bit overwhelming walking into a beauty store, especially if you haven’t got a clue what you are looking for. I always like to get the most bang for my buck, and when applying this method to my makeup buying escapades, make-up palettes are a win-win in my bargain book!
BECCA X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette
When this palette was originally announced, my jaw just about hit the floor! Not only have I been a HUGE fan of BECCA since before they blew up in the makeup game, Chrissy Teigen is one of my all-time favorite people ever! She’s hilarious, blunt, and just like her palette, absolutely breathtaking!
Not only does it come with two highlighters, (BECCA has the best highlighter in the game, if you didn’t already know) a blush and a bronzer, the rose gold and marble packaging is just as drop dead gorgeous as the shades itself! This little number is perfect for amplifying your summertime, dewy glow, and for $46, it’s worth every shiny penny.
Tarte Grav3yardgirl Swamp Queen Palette
Oh my goodness! Hands down, this gorgeous creation is one of the best palettes I have ever owned! I almost let this palette slip out of my perfectly manicured fingers but luckily it came back for a second run. This limited-edition, stunning kit by YouTuber @grav3yardgirl is perfection because it is an all-in-one palette.
It contains nine eye shadows, a bronzer, a blush, and a highlighter named “gator wings” that has changed my glow game! The shades are perfect for a smoky, fall look and miraculously the whole palette smells like a vanilla cupcake! I have convinced three of my friends to buy this gem and they all LOVE it! So please, I beg of you, add this palette to your beauty collection before it’s gone for good!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in “Sweets”
I refuse to remember a time when a pop of highlighter on your cheek wasn’t a necessity! When I discovered highlighter for the first time, I knew it was a product I couldn’t live without! Take my arm, or my first born, but don’t take my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit! Anastasia came out with many variations of this glow kit, but this one in particular caught my attention simply because its name, “Sweets.”
This illuminating highlighter palette has the cutest shades in Marshmallow, Butterscotch, Taffy, and my favorite, Sassy Grape. This glow kit gives you the ultimate intense luminosity you’ve been waiting for and can be applied to your face, eyes and body. This gorgeous, glow palette of my dreams was limited edition, so if you were able to get your hands on it, you got yourself a treasure, sista!
Benefit Cheek Parade Bronzer and Blush Palette
A girl can never have too many bronzers or blushes, so when Benefit made this adorable Cheek Parade palette with five, full size shades for the price of two, I knew I had to have it! Their signature blush, Dandelion, has been a staple in my makeup bag for years, but I was dying to try the new, limited edition shade – Galifornia!
Since my tried and true Dandelion was just about gone, I thought I might as well get the whole palette that offered these two beautiful shades, as well as three others! With three unique blush colors, as well as two different hues of bronzer, this palette will make you want to march proudly in a cheeky parade of your own!
Studiomakeup Eye Shadow Palette in “Cool Down”
A good eye shadow makeup palette can be hard to come by, but I randomly stumbled upon this brand and I am IN LOVE! This elegant, textured palette comes with nine matte and shimmer shades that will take your eyelids to the next level! I love that the colors are universal and can be used for day and night looks. With mauve, burgundy, and champagne shades, you better believe that this will be my go-to palette for the fall season!
