Moana | Hail to the Newest Disney Princess of the Season
Know More about Moana, Disney’s First Polynesian Princess
Being lined up as the 56th animated feature of Walt Disney Animated Classic series, Musker and Clements now comes with their first fully computer-animated, musical adventure film, Moana.
Way back, around three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors and seafarers of the world conquered the South Pacific and discovered series of islands of Oceania. However, after a millennium, their journey to the seas stopped and until today, no one knows the reason behind.
The story of this film talks about Moana Waialiki, an all-out, dauntless teenager who sets out on a voyage across the oceans to search for a mythical island and to fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest. As she goes on with her mission of proving herself a master way finder, she came across a once powerful demi-god Maui, and hand-in-hand, they traverse the vast, open ocean on an action-packed journey, crossing paths with huge fiery creatures and unimaginable odds.
It also explores the rich deep-rooted history of the South Pacific, which is the main concern of the directors while doing their research for the project.
The newbie Auli’i Cravalho will give life to Moana as the voice behind her while the demi-god Maui will be voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Together with Moana’s pet pig Pua, they will courageously embark on a sea voyage for their ancestors and eventually, for themselves as well.
This CG-animated film is produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the renowned makers of Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog and other amazing works. The creative artists exposed themselves to the Polynesian islands to gain better and sufficient understanding of the culture before finalizing Moana’s narrative.

Is it just me, or is it getting a bit old to have female main characters in animation all have the same face shape? Studios exaggerate male faces all the time. It starts setting the the example to little girls that all females have should theses portotrions. It’s starts becoming the ideal/standard.
