Street Style Looks We Love From New York Fashion Week S/S 2017

September 15, 2016 By Perry Belcher 2 Comments

Half the fun of New York Fashion Week is seeing what real people are wearing on the streets. As a fashion capital, New York is always full of fashion inspiration everywhere you turn. So you can imagine how much more of a gold mine the city becomes during New York Fashion Week! This season’s street style looks cover everything from athleisure to normcore, to classic fall colors, and even cozy layers. It’s definitely time to upgrade your wardrobe, with these looks as your inspiration.

Street Style Looks We Love From New York Fashion Week S/S 2017

This Season’s Hottest Trends, Straight Off The Streets of New York

Carrie Bradshaw once said, “Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future. This is known as Fashion Week.” And it’s not just the runway shows or designers looking forward to the future of fashion. All sorts of trendsetters are out during fashion week, from models, to bloggers, and even fashion fans like you and me. We all anticipate seeing new and creative ways to wear all of this season’s hottest trends, both on and off the runway. So if there’s one source of inspiration you can turn to for wearable trends you can incorporate into your wardrobe, it’s street style.  So keep scrolling to see some of my favorite street style looks from New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017.

1. Backless

As long as the occasion permits, don’t be afraid to show some skin! New York Fashion Week is certainly the best place to experiment with daring outfits and bold silhouettes. I love how even though this dress is backless, it’s not tacky. The navy blue fabric and maxi skirt length make this a chic outfit.

2. Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is this year’s Pantone color, so you might as well wear it while it’s hot! Some people say matching your clothes to your accessories is old-fashioned, but this outfit proves otherwise. The sheer long-sleeved top layered under is also a very fall-appropriate touch.

3. Frayed Shorts

While some are dressed to the nines for New York Fashion Week, other people, including models, go for a more casual and comfy look. Frayed denim shorts got a massive style upgrade with an on-trend crop jacket. Doesn’t she look so trendy?

4. All Black

While New York Fashion Week may be about looking to the future of fashion, all-black outfits will always be street style staples. For a cool girl look, throw a bomber jacket over a black dress and finish off with a pair of boots. It’s an effortless yet New York Fashion Week-worthy outfit.

5. Menswear Layers

If there’s one time you can experiment with different trends and combinations, it’s definitely New York Fashion Week. Menswear has been a huge trend lately with shirt dresses, androgynous silhouettes, and oversized everything. And since fall is the perfect time to start layering, why not layer menswear? A vest over a shirt dress will create a feminine and fashion-forward look.

6. High Boots

The start of fall means you can bust out the boots! And because this is New York Fashion Week, you might as well take the trend all the way. I thought these sky-high boots were pants! Either way, a classic trench paired with boots is a no-fail fall outfit.

7. Florals

Whoever says that you can’t wear florals all year long clearly never went to New York Fashion Week. This New York Fashion Week model styled her floral dress for fall with black everything: a hat, gladiator sandals, and a Chanel purse.

8. Fiery Reds

Just like black, red is another classic color that makes an appearance year in and year out. For this season, go for fiery, eye-catching shades of red. They’ll really bring out your complexion, light and dark alike!

9. Denim on Denim

New York Fashion Week just can’t get enough of denim on denim, and neither can I! Street style tip: mix and match different shades and washes of denim for a more polished and stylish look.

10. Statement Coats

It’s no surprise that Kylie Jenner is nailing her street style looks at this season’s New York Fashion Week. To upgrade your basic outfits, pick a statement coat in a bright color or bold print. So simple, yet so stylish!

11. Upgraded Basics

Not to be left behind by Kylie’s style, model Kendall Jenner steps out in upgraded basics. She made a plain white tee look so trendy! Those purple velvet boots are swoon-worthy, right?

12. Cut-Outs

When it comes to dressing for New York Fashion Week, you either go big or go home. This stunning black lace gown gets a fashionable upgrade thanks to all the interesting cut-outs in front and on the sides. This look is only for the daring!

13. Denim and White

If there’s one street style look I’d wear right now, it’s this one! The denim a-line skirt is very on-trend, and the crisp white shirt is so refreshing in a sea of dark colors.

14. Over-Alls

The more casual cousin of the jumpsuit, over-alls are the perfect laid-back weekend outfit. When you’re on the streets of New York Fashion Week though, you accessorize with a choker and a designer handbag!

15. Color Blocking

If you’re looking for an eye-catching outfit, go for bright colors. The more they clash, the better! Just make sure to pair it with a few neutral elements like this black tee, or dark accessories like classic black boots.

16. Punk-Inspired

Who knew jeans and a tee could look this stylish? It really all comes down to how you style them. The lace-up boots and super skinny black jeans make for a punk-inspired outfit that’s brimming with style.

17. Maxi Skirts

Maxi skirts have been in style for quite some time now. So if you’re going to rock one, get creative! The ruffles and front slit give this maxi skirt a much-needed upgrade.
