Hungarian photographer in hot water after refugee-inspired fashion shoot
Hungarian fashion photographer Norbert Baksa has published a photo editorial called ‘Der Migrant’ featuring a model in designer clothes posing as a refugee by a barb-wired fence. Some viewers have called the project “utterly sick” and “wickedly wrong.”
Since the photos were shown to the public, it has gotten mixed reactions. However, many would describe it as sick and wrong. But personally, I will have to side on Baksa with this. This photo editorial is a good way of highlighting the refugee problem. It’s not about sensationalizing it. Baksa just thought of a way to express the message in a more creative manner — through the art of photography. I really don’t know why “Der Migrant” is getting so much hate. I’d rather see photos of relevant issues like this one instead of celebrity scandals. Perhaps other people find the reference to refugees to be too sensitive, too soon given the dire situation in Syria. But then again, that is why this photoshoot is so timely. But oh well, that’s just me.
