The word is out and Pantone’s color of 2016 is Rose Quartz and Serenity.
We’re already talking about 2016 and the month of December has only begun. But that’s okay, because as this wonderful year winds down, we find ourselves getting even more excited for the year to come!
When it comes to the world of fashion, so many changes took place this year:
- Instagram dominated the runways with models taking selfies, designers designing their show according to Instagram aesthetics, and the rise of the Instagram It Girls, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
- Tom Ford debuted his S/S 2016 collection via music video rather than walking down the runway, which prompted fashion speculators to ask whether the time of live runway shows is dead.
- More women became vocal about eradicating body-shaming from society’s vocabulary, instead promoting a body-positive rhetoric, and…
- ModCloth made major strides in fashion when they changed “Plus Size” to “Extended Sizes”.
But with all these changes, there is one thing we can always count on and that’s Pantone’s Color of the Year which never disappoints.
This year, Pantone went with not one, but TWO colors: Rose Quartz & Serenity.
This is such a big jump from last year’s color of the year, Marsala, that it almost serves as a breath of fresh air for color-enthusiasts and fashionistas the world over. Don’t get me wrong — I LOVE darker hues. My wardrobe mainly consists of black, gray, denim, and more black, but that doesn’t mean I can’t get on board with lighter colors. I do also own this in Primrose, after all.
Rose Quartz and Serenity are beautiful colors to start the year off with and we couldn’t be more excited to sport our fuzzy cropped sweater (look above) in more places than the local barcade down the street.

Rose Quartz and Serenity are the perfect color combo and I’m so glad that, this year, Pantone thought outside the box when selecting their color of the year.
Here’s to a pastel-colored 2016!
