A New Year’s Eve party can attract the most interesting people. Unless the celebration’s a close-knit one spent with people you know and love, odds are that you’d see a couple of personalities present in this list. Hey, you might even be one of them!
Whether you’re part of a couple that can’t seem to get enough of each other or know someone who’s guilty of the occasional nip slip, have a look at this humorous list of 10 people you’re bound to see at a New Year’s Eve party.
New Years Eve Party Personalities
Before the clock strikes twelve and all New Year resolutions are turned on, comes the celebration of a New Year’s Eve party. A night until morning shindig that boasts of loads of food, booze, and strangers-turned-friends.
Aside from joining in on the festivities, I find that it’s quite funny watching all the different personalities in the room. To be honest, these personalities have actually been present in all the NYE gatherings I’ve been to and they make for hilarious stories to tell. Keep on reading to know what I mean!
1. The Excessive PDA Couple
There’s always that couple who spends the majority of the night playing tonsil hockey. They probably don’t even realize that they’re in a crowded room, that the countdown has begun, or that you know, it’s officially 2017.
2. The Too-Drunk-Too-Quickly
These are they people you never see without a drink (or make that a bottle) in hand. At first, they’re the life of the party, always getting everyone riled up to raise a glass and forever shouting funny remarks. As the night progresses, though, they’re either spotted on the floor or knocked out on the couch.
My word of advice, try to be a good friend and resist the urge to draw on their face. Oh who am I kidding, it’ll be fun!
3. The Selfie-Obsessed
The excessive selfie-taker is dedicated to documenting her/his entire night through selfies. No, you never get to really see where they’re at or who’s with them, but you do get various angles of their face, so yay?
4. The Girl Who Wants The D
This is the girl who has one mission for the night: to rid herself of that #thirstisreal feeling. She’s the one scouting out all the cute guys at the party, casually heading over with a drink in hand, ready to strike up a conversation. She knows what she wants for 2017 and she’s not leaving the party without it.
5. The Documenter
This is the guy/girl who’s busy taking everyone’s photos whether they’re sober or not. This only means that he’s got a whole folder of documents — both pictures and videos — that can be used as blackmail. Trust me, you’d never want to cross this person.
6. The One Who Keeps Eating
Cue in the Mean Girls line of, “the girls who eat their feelings”. These are the people hovering over the snack bar, making it a personal goal to try at least every every dish once (or thrice).
The only thing that you can’t quite figure out is where they put all the holiday binge. It just doesn’t seem to show on their bodycon dresses.
7. The Drinking Game Master
She’s the one who knows all the drinking games by heart. She plays strong, drinks hard, and considers it a success every time someone downs a shot of tequila. Remember to stay on her good side, ladies. She’ll bend the rules if you’re a good friend of hers.
8. The Inevitable Nip-Slip/Crotch Flash
There’s always that one person who takes the term “less is more” to heart in her fashion choices. She’s donned outfits that show the side boob, the under boob, basically anything that shows off her gorgeous bod.
The only problem is that she needs to get double sided tape that’s twice as strong to stop her dress from moving too far.
9. The What-Dress-Code Disappointment
A New Year’s Eve party usually has a dress code. But whether it’s glam or casual chic, there’s always someone who conveniently forgets to check the invite for the appropriate attire.
Avoid this by sending out a reminder to everyone invited about the rules for the party — dress code included.
10. The Downer
Let this serve as a warning. Stay away from Debbie Downers and Negative Nancys. A New Year’s Eve party is a time for celebration and happiness. It marks the closing of a year and the beginning of a new one. So trust me when I say that it’d be best to rid yourself of all negativity when at a New Year’s Eve party.
