Period Problems? Try These Natural Remedies For Period Pain

January 10, 2017 By Perry Belcher Leave a Comment

Is it that time of the month again? Yes, period problems…as if we don’t have enough problems to deal with right?

What can I say? I’m one of those people who really struggle when my monthly visitor arrives. Going through the PMS is just awful and then the period itself is so tough! I know I’m not alone here and there are other women out there who have it worse compared to others. This is exactly why I’m sharing these period problems solutions to all of you today!

Effective Natural Remedies to Ease Period Problems Once and For All

Ladies, let’s all band together and put an end to period problems once and for all! We don’t always have to rely on medication and pain relievers. There are natural remedies out there that are just as effective. Are you as excited as I am to know what they are? Well, let’s begin!

1. Period Headaches

This is one of the period problems that I suffer from…period headaches or menstrual migraines…and I hate it! It throws me off my game and it’s really hard to work through the day with it. The fact is, the prostaglandin hormones responsible for cramps are also the same culprit for the headaches. While over-the-counter pain relievers can work, you could also take 150 mg of butterbur herb everyday as studies show it helps lessen menstrual migraines.

2. Sensitive Breasts

The extra fullness of your breasts will also make then extra sensitive. Ouchie! The cause of this intense sensitivity is the increased levels of progesterone in your body. There are women who avoid daily caffeine intake to have less sensitivity, while for some, taking 60 mg of chasteberry extract is known to lessen the breast tenderness. If you’re still in pain, you may also use silicone gel pads to protect the nipples from rubbing against your bra.

  • FEEL CONFIDENT & GORGEOUS – These silicone gel cover ups work with most shirts, blouses, and dresses and let you shed the bra, cover your ladies, and help you feel gorgeous, confident and free. No more need for unwieldly, uncomfortable tape.
  • REUSABLE SELF-ADHESIVE – Offering secure, all-day comfort, each petal cover up adheres to your body temperature like second skin.
  • HYPOALLERGENIC COMFORT – Crafted with medical-grade silicone, our silicone concealers are gentle on skin, stay in place, and easy to apply.
  • DISCREET COVERAGE & SUPPORT – At 2.5” in diameter, you can shield yourself with proper coverage, as the petals are not easily seen through sheer fabrics.
  • TRAVEL STORAGE CASE INCLUDED – Each order comes with a felt-lined, EVA, hard shell case to keep them clean and organized in your purse. In addition, there is a laminate film for the back of each breast petal to extend the life of the adhesive.

3. Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps are so annoying. They’re so painful; it feels like you’re tummy is about to explode any time soon! You know what can help? 30 minutes of aerobic exercise! I know it’s not exactly what you want to hear (because you can’t be bothered moving around during your period) but when you exercise, there is better blood flow which flushes away the prostaglandins that’s making your tummy go ouchie! Nonetheless, if you really can’t workout, using a heating pad on your tummy for 10-15 minutes can help with blood circulation too.

4. Being Very Emotional

Your monthly period is also known as drama time. We don’t like crying but it’s not like we can stop the tears from flowing too. Hormonal fluctuation is the culprit for the dramafest and it throws the chemicals in the brain completely off balance. To help prevent being very emotional, eat more carbs (yes, don’t diet now!) and eat more whole-grain food and leafy greens.

5. Sleepiness

You just woke up and now, you want to go back to bed. Are you a sleepyhead or what? Hey girl, it’s not your fault! When you’re on your period, you lose blood (obviously!) and that means you’re losing iron too. Iron help re-energizes the body so that’s why you’re feeling sleepy and sluggish especially during PMS and the first days of your period. During this time, eat more food with iron like lentils, beans and spinach, and take iron supplements as well. Moreover, the spice fenugreek is also known to help re-energize your body too.

6. Insatiable Cravings

Insatiable cravings? You and I both! My cravings start during PMS and they get really bad. I usually look for anything sweet like cake and cheesecake! But wait, why do we crave so much during this time? It’s because of the serotonin dip during PMS. Well ladies, do not deprive yourselves. I repeat, satisfy those cravings ladies! But if you want a healthier snack, go for snacks with calcium because the mineral is known to help reduce PMS symptoms too.

7. Bloating

Ah, the bloating…it’s evil I tell you! I bloat like crazy and it sucks a lot. I remember having my period on a trip abroad and in my photos, I looked pregnant, literally! But anyway, the bloating is due to the water retention in the body, which is why it is not recommended to eat salty foods during your period. Also, steer clear from alcohol please! What you should do is eat food like salmon because it’s high in omega-3 fatty acids. It’s a good thing that salmon is delicious!

Ladies, don’t ever feel like you’re alone when you’re suffering through PMS and your period. Even YouTuber Meghan Rienks feels the wrath of period problems. Watch this hilarious documentation:

Girls will be girls and while monthly periods are annoying, just think about it this way… we can have babies!!! And truth be told, it’s actually a good thing that we’re losing the dirty blood in our bodies too. So ladies, instead of constantly being pissed, embrace your period! It’s not going anywhere so you better heed these tips on how to deal with those period problems from now on.
