Single Working Women’s Day probably tops your list of little known holidays celebrated in August. But despite being a not-so-recognized holiday every year, I believe it deserves the homage given to any holidays — and even more!

If our moms, dads, and grandparents have one special day (aside from their birthdays) to celebrate their lives as amazing roles, why not give one to single women, too? Let this day be a moment of recognition for these hardworking ladies who played significant roles in different aspects of our lives. Since August 04 is Single Working Women’s Day, here is what you can do — celebrate your singlehood!

Are you one of the single working women? Let me first say thank you! This day is dedicated to you and your amazing achievements.

Tracing back its roots, this fun holiday was created by Barbara Payne. Her thoughts of appreciating and recognizing the vital contributions of single working women led to this celebration. It is devoted to single yet happy and employed ladies who conquered the world with their own might and abilities.

Just like Gabrielle Bonheur (aka Coco) Chanel. Before being one of the well-known queens of the fashion empire, she was raised in the orphanage run by the nuns. From this haven, she gained her sewing skills and brought her to the spotlight of the fashion industry. Her quest for success was her passion and commitment that brought her legacy to where it is today.

Comparable to Coco Chanel, you can be just like her, too! You can also be an inspiration to all the single women out there, working hard not just for themselves but for the others as well. And as you read this, claim August 4 as your day, ladies! Being a single working woman is the best thing ever. Here’s why:

1. Me, Myself and I

Being single means you have a lot of self-love and self-improvement. It is all about being a better person. You now have plenty of time to focus on your own goals in life. Not to mention, plenty of time for going out with the girls!

2. Free to choose

Your liberty is a luxury. You can choose whatever job you want to try as long as it makes you happy and productive. You can date anyone you feel like being with, at any time, and anywhere guilt-free.  You can live wherever your feet and heart leads you. Young, wild and free!

3. Less drama

Few tears (of sadness) and more laughter happen in your life since you’re happy and contented with the choices you make. Who would not feel accomplished if you’re able to live a life that you always dreamed of having, right?

4. More Rest

What’s the best treat after a day of hard work? A cozy bed! Delight yourself with a beauty sleep if needed. Enjoy the comforts of your bed until morning. Have some ‘me time’ with your pillows and keep yourself warm under your blankets. You deserve a good amount of rest for achievements!

5. Try new things

Single working women never run out of adventures, right? Thus, you’re able to push your limits and discover yourself more. You can travel alone to places you’ve been wishing to go to. Learn a new hobby that you saw on Youtube. Try a new sport that revived your sporty soul. You don’t just set boundaries on things that you can do. Single working women are limitless — and that’s set you apart from others. (in a beautiful way, of course!)

6. Independence

You are the captain of your ship — your fate and life. You’re great in managing things and making it happen on your own. You make our own rules in life without seeking for other people’s approval. Basically, you’re the boss and everything else follows. #ThisIsMyLife

7. Extra money

Aside from having a splurge purchase of your guilty pleasures, you’re also able to share what you’ve earned with your personal support system. Your family, friends and even your dog that supported you all the way are never neglected with your success. They’re the wind beneath your wings, after all.

8. The best of both worlds

You are an amazing juggler and balancer of your life. You know how to live in the moment AND follow your ‘goal-digger’ schedule. Nothing risked, nothing missed — just go!

9. Strong inside and out

You know how to deal with difficult things on your own. You’re responsible for your own decisions and when things get tougher, facing it without second thoughts is your thing. No stepping back, just moving forward!

10. You’re unstoppable!

Nothing is impossible if you want it! Because you know yourself well and you know what you want, nothing can stop you from getting it! Your burning desire to achieve something and be successful with it will bring you on top. You soar high with flying colors, girl!
