Have you ever wondered what your skin type is? Or you think you already know but still, your skin is not as good as you want it to be. Maybe you need more guidance to know the right type of skin that you have because it can be a little tricky.

Skin care is a part of everyone’s daily routine. After all, good skin condition can boost self-esteem. Yet if despite the constant skin care, you still think that your complexion is not as good as you want it to be. There might be an underlying reason for that. Using the right products can be tricky especially because we don’t have the same skin types. To help you, here is a guide to understanding your skin type and the proper product to use.

This skin type is neither oily nor dry. It has very few discolorations or variances in tone or pigment. Its blemish free and appears smooth and clear and the pores are barely visible.

This skin type appears to be flaky, dry or with red patches. It has a tight appearance with small pores and looks dull or lackluster. Wrinkles and lines may develop easily.

This skin type has blotchy patches. Redness spots may appear and is prone to rashes and irritation. It has broken capillaries and may feel itching or burning.

In this skin type, Areas around the chin, nose, and forehead may be oily. Areas around the eyes, hair, and jaw lines are often dry. It is also prone to blackheads and has large pores.

 

Determining your Skin Type

To know your skin type follow these steps:

  1. Wash your face and gently pat dry.
  2. Then, leave your face alone for a few hours without putting any makeup or products on.
  3. Using oil blotting paper, dab on one area of the face at a time.
  4. Look at the paper to see which areas leave an oily residue on the paper (if any).

Remember, different areas of the face such as the nose and the forehead are naturally oily.
