As Madonna once sang, “We are living in material world and I am a material girl.” I obviously value the things that really matter most, but this girl sure does love her fair share of beautiful bags or a brand new pair of shoes. For me, shoes heal my soul! Or should I say, “heel my sole”? (Ha, see what I did there? *wink*) For this blog post, I did a little sole searching and gathered some of my favorite shoe essentials to share.
Searching for Shoe Essentials
Ballerina Flats
First things first, flats are the best! They are comfy, sleek, and most importantly, versatile. Paired with jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts, you name it, they work with any outfit. Even when I go out for a night on the town, I find myself bringing along a pair of flats to change into when my feet just can’t take it anymore.
Although they say beauty is pain, it doesn’t have to be when you own a pair (or three) of quality ballerina flats. Add a little sparkle, rock some scalloped details, or keep it simple; there is a darling pair for everyone!
Tennis Shoes
Sure, they might be called tennis shoes, but Honey, they are far from actually being used for sports. I would rarely even give this department a second glance, but in the last couple years, I find myself drawn to cute tennis shoes.
Top brands like Kate Spade and Vans have completely changed the game and made what once was a simple sneaker, into a shoe with some personality, sparkle, and even sprinkles. Being the girly-girl I am, I absolutely love that I can wear these with my dresses and skirts!
Boots
When Fall rolls around (and OMG it’s almost here) some people begin to obsess over all things pumpkin flavored and infinity scarves, but not me. As soon as the first leaf drops and the weather is anywhere under 80 degrees, I only have one thing on my mind: Boot Season!
Ah, believe me when I say that there is nothing better than wearing your favorite pair of fringe or suede boots with a cute dress or leggings. Give me a crisp breeze and some hot apple cider and I will always be reminded why I fall in love with boots all over again.
Cowboy Boots
Being from Texas, you have to own at least one good pair of cowboy boots. (All my Southern Belles know what I am talking about!) The glitzier the boot the better because where I come from, there is absolutely no such thing as too flashy.
That being said, you definitely want to invest in a good, quality pair that will last forever. I personally love to rock these with a cute dress, cut off shorts, or even a tulle skirt.
Heels
I swear, heels have heel-ing powers. If you aren’t necessarily feeling your outfit, the one surefire way to go from 0 to 100 real quick is to put on some sexy heels. Pumps or stilettos, strappy or platform, there are so many different options to choose from. I myself love a heel that is no less than 5 inches – hello elongated legs and a great looking butt!
A great pair of heels can go with virtually any outfit, but I always consider one thing before I leave my house. Will I be sitting for the greater part of my outing or will I be up on my feet? There is a distinct difference in “sitting heels” and “party heels.” If I know the heels will start hurting my feet after only a short amount of time, I only wear those to something like a dinner date, where I know I will be sitting for a majority of the time. Likewise, if I know I’m going to be mostly on my feet, I rock my party heels. I promise, using this technique can help save your feet from some serious discomfort!
When investing in a new pair of shoes, they don’t necessarily have to be designer, or even expensive, what matters most to me is a combination of style, comfort, longevity, and overall cuteness that will make me want to take the plunge. When I find all these factors in one pair of shoes, I’m never afraid to add a shiny new addition to my Narnia closet.
