These stories of survival will restore your faith in humanity.
The war in Syria is one that has been raging for what seems like forever. As an outsider, one can’t even imagine what Syrians have had to go through since the chaos erupted. We’ve seen harrowing pictures and have heard unimaginable stories where it feels as if finding the light at the end of the tunnel is impossible, if it even exists.
But then we heard the stories these 3 women shared about escaping the chaos and being forced to rebuild their life one piece at a time. Hearing these stories of survival reminds you that there is always hope.

Noor’s long, soft eyelashes peek out from behind the white of her hijab, even as she conceals her face. She is slim and pretty and wears a long cardigan and black jeans tucked into white high-top sneakers.
Every time I read a story about the plight of Syrian refugees, it moves me to tears. How can the world be so cruel?
How has humanity come to this point where lives have diminished into a mere number?
Forgive me for an emotional post, but I want to evoke your emotions too. Want to know what I believe? There are no victors in war. No amount of death, casualties and destruction can equate to making someone the winner. In war, there is only loss and more often than not, the loss is without reason or purpose.
While we, at home, may have already thrown up our hands in regards to the war raging in Syria or the terror ISIS has inflicted in countries all over the world, we can still do our part to help those in need.
Do not take your life for granted. Be thankful and appreciative of what you have now. Know that there are people in Syria who do not even have a roof over their heads. Know that there are Syrian refugees, both adults and kids alike, stuck on a boat headed to nowhere, trying to find a country that is willing to take them in. Help those who are in need in whatever way you can. The world has has become cruel and the only way to turn that tide is with kindness.
These women fought for their lives and for their families. They knew this was the moment to make their biggest sacrifice and it was all worth it. Do not lose hope in situations that seem hopeless, always have courage because it is THAT courage that will guide you in finding hope and the solution.
I urge all of you to watch this documentary about a Syrian refugee family in Europe:
