Expounding The Mystery of The Lonesome

The Hermit tarot card is the Major Arcana in the most traditional Tarot decks. It is both used in divination and games. In some decks, the Hermit is also called Time, The Monk, or Sage. The Hermit also comes in different alternative decks such as in Mythic Tarot deck.

The Hermit’s story is connected with The Fool tarot. As the Fool takes on different journeys and challenges, the Hermit is the becoming from what the Fool has gone through. It is of introspection, reflection, and retreat of the inner self from the current state of your life.

The card does not imply socialization and action. Instead, it is to insinuate contemplation; to clear out one’s mind in peace and solitude from within. The Hermit is a therapist. It desires a getaway to think deeply upon withdrawal of thoughts as it leads to clarity.  He lights the darkness, he stood still alone, and he is deep and wandering.

The Hermit tarot card shows a man in a robe, holding a lantern with a star, a staff, a robe, snow on his feet, and a mountain.

The Hermit man stands on the top of a mountain with his head down and alone.

The star in his lantern symbolizes wisdom.

The staff he is holding in his left hand which is the association of the subconscious mind is a crest of authority and power. It symbolizes the path of initiation.

These symbolizations are tools in his isolation and acquired knowledge for better awareness of himself and his dispositions.

The robe he is wearing implicates his trait as a mysterious person who is deep.

The snow on his feet represents the extent upwards the spiritual acquisition, while the mountain represents growth and accomplishments.

Below is a video from Munisha Khatwani which will help you acquire a knowledge of the Major Arcana cards:

Letting go and accepting the past is what you should give to yourself in order for you to keep looking for new possibilities. Understanding yourself is your key to keeping your aim in a steady shot for your goals in life as well as deciding well on situations which may confuse you. You may not be in control of the future, but you’re already in the present and prepared to reach new heights.

At one point in your life, you will need some time alone, and it may be perceived as being aloof to everything and everyone. But remember, seeking inner reflection means better understanding of yourself and the world.
